HEALTHCARE ESTATES

Speaker line-up ‘crammed with influential figures’

With just a few weeks to go until Healthcare Estates 2023, the healthcare engineering and EFM community is gearing up for another record-breaking event in Manchester. HEJ looks forward to what’s in store at IHEEM’s flagship annual event.

The UK’s largest annual event for the healthcare engineering and EFM sector returns to Manchester Central on 10-11 October this year for two days of high- value learning, networking, and business development. The packed two-day schedule at Healthcare Estates 2023 features the IHEEM annual conference, the Healthcare Estates trade exhibition, and the IHEEM annual awards dinner. With over 3,000 attendees expected, the event will once again provide a fantastic platform for new business development, professional relationship building, and CPD for professionals of all levels. IHEEM CEO, Pete Sellars, said:

“Once again I am looking forward to welcoming everyone to our flagship event in Manchester. We have a packed two-day conference programme, and a keynote panel session against each of our five Key Themes. I am delighted that several of our IHEEM Technical Platforms are participating in the conference alongside our Diversity and Inclusion Working Group, and our newly formed Strategic Estates Management Advisory Panel. They remain an essential part of our conference programme, and their involvement in Manchester is a key part of networking with our members and keeping them updated on the work of our Platforms. These sessions always provide delegates with the opportunity to take an active part in open and frank discussions about the subjects that have the greatest impact on our sector.”

Free presentations in the Exhibition Theatres The IHEEM CEO continued: “All visitors are entitled to attend the free presentations on offer as part of the Exhibition Theatre Programme. The six theatres provide plenty of opportunity to learn about the latest products and innovations relevant

to our sector. In particular, please look out for the series of workshops and activities planned over the two days around energy, with a focus on hydrogen, geothermal, and decarbonisation. Our closing conference session includes celebrity guest speaker, Perry McCarthy, the original BBC Top Gear ‘Stig’, who I know will be an interesting and entertaining speaker, and well worth staying for. “As the event grows each year, with

more exhibitors and things to see and do, we want everyone to enjoy their time in Manchester in comfort. So, we have taken onboard feedback from last year’s event, and – as a result – visitors can look forward to having more space for networking, relaxing, and eating, plus more break-out space and room to circulate and enjoy everything on offer across the two days. “I hope to meet many of you at the IHEEM Members’ Area situated next to the main stage. This informal space provides our members with space to relax, while finding out about the work the Institute is undertaking, and meeting some of the Head Office team alongside Council members and others involved in supporting the Institute. If you aren’t a member of IHEEM yet, or are thinking of joining as a personal or affiliate member, please pay a visit to our stand and find out more about the different types of membership on offer. Finally, I would like to

thank everyone who has kindly agreed to take part this year, including our speakers, sponsors, exhibitors, and supporters, and especially our international colleagues, who will be travelling to Manchester. I hope you are able to take your precious time away from the ‘day job’ to appreciate everything on offer this year. I am proud of all the IHEEM family who work so hard throughout the year to make this event a success, and enjoyable for all our visitors.”

The 2023 Conference This year’s conference programme is – as ever – crammed with influential figures and top experts from the NHS, private sector, and academia, and the topical themes on the agenda are sure to stimulate interesting debate and new ideas. Conference director, Victoria Emerton, said: “This is one of the strongest conference programmes we have ever put together, with both breadth and depth of content, and a truly stellar line-up of speakers. There are so many opportunities for delegates of all levels of experience to broaden their knowledge and understanding, whether that’s by listening to a plenary or an update from one of the IHEEM Technical Platforms, putting a question to a keynote panel, or comparing notes with fellow delegates on how to tackle key challenges. Following feedback from delegates, we’ve made some
