Altecnic launches TMV with thermal disinfection function
Altecnic, a leading UK supplier of hydronic solutions, and part of the Caleffi Group, has launched a thermostatic mixing valve (TMV) that enables the thermal disinfection process to be brought up to the tap or shower head. The Mixcal Careflo Plus TMV
removes the need to take off the TMV to flush out the system, making the process quicker and more efficient. The company said: “With Altecnic’s new TMV, using a special tool and the manual override function allow thermal disinfection to be performed through to the outlets, enabling a complete, rather than a partial, flush. This full thermal disinfection further helps prevent the growth of harmful bacteria.” The Mixcal Careflo Plus TMV has been designed and made to meet the requirements of BS 7942:2000 and the NHS Model engineering specification,

D08, for use in healthcare settings such as hospitals and care homes, and in schools. Stephanie Allchurch, Altecnic’s Product
Development manager, said: “TMVs already play a vital role in keeping people safe by regulating water temperatures. With our new TMV, we are taking that safety role further by making it easier for installers to carry out thermal disinfection as efficiently as possible.”

From home automation to healthcare wiring
Established in 1989, Scolmore Group manufactures electrical accessories, lighting, home automation, security, and cable accessory products, and over the years has developed a collection of wiring accessories specifically suited to the healthcare sector’s needs, ‘with a focus on hygiene, safety, and security’. The specialist products that make up the Scolmore Medical Solutions range (pictured) are from the Mode wiring accessories collection. All Mode products are manufactured using Urea Formaldehyde, ‘which has similar inherent properties to antimicrobial additives that inhibit the growth of
infectious diseases’. The full Mode Medical Solutions range currently comprises antimicrobial and antiviral certified switches and sockets; blue ‘Medical Equipment Only’ sockets; GridPro red switch modules; red and green outboard rocker switched socket outlets; key lockable switches and sockets; locating sockets, and Part M visually contrasting wiring accessories. A range of EBBs (Equipotential Bonding Busbars) is the latest addition to the range. Scolmore identified the need for an EBB with a simple design, an easy-to-terminate layout, and the right number of terminations for its
applications within different medical locations. The result is the introduction of an 18 connection Type 1 EBB and 40 connection Type 2 EBB.
Equipment hire business, RVT Group, specialises in supporting healthcare facilities during demolition, excavation, maintenance, construction, and refurbishment activities. It said: “We understand that healthcare estates and facilities and infection control teams face a variety of challenges in these highly sensitive environments, and also know their key priorities in protecting patient health, such as reducing the risk of aspergillosis, infection
prevention and control, and maintaining patient comfort throughout their stay.”
RVTs ‘specialist tailored solutions’ – in line with HBN
00-09, and ‘designed to effectively capture, contain, and control hazards such as dust, fumes, noise, and more’ – include HEPA filtration units, negative pressure extraction systems, pressure gauges, dust monitors, rigid containment structures, mobile containment units, acoustic barriers, ‘and much more’.
The group’s ‘unique consultative approach’ ensures customers are supported ‘from the first to the final stage of their project’. RVT added: “Our highly trained experts have designed solutions to protect patients, staff, and the surrounding environment, at facilities such as Great Ormond Street Hospital, Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, Royal United Hospitals Bath, and the Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital.”
