The Exhibition The free-to-attend Exhibition is the place for healthcare engineering and EFM professionals of all levels to discover products and services to help them meet current and future challenges. Attendees will be greeted by over 200 leading suppliers to the EFM sector, covering every discipline related to designing, building, managing, and maintaining, healthcare estates and facilities. Due to an unprecedented demand for
exhibition stands, the floorplan for the Exhibition this year (see page 86) has been expanded by 20% on the already- record-breaking exhibition of 2022. This expansion allows for an even wider range of exhibitors to be accommodated, resulting in a more comprehensive, engaging, and valuable experience for visitors. The overall amount of networking, catering, and seating space has also been increased to deliver a more relaxed and comfortable experience. Exhibition Director, Jay Stacy, said:

On site, exhibitors are organised into
‘zones’ to help visitors locate the types of suppliers they are looking for. The zones are Engineering & Compliance, Energy & Sustainability, Facilities Management, and Design & Construction. In addition to these zones, the central aisle will feature many more exhibitors covering the above disciplines and more.

Exhibition Theatre programme The Exhibition Theatre programme has been designed in association with some of the sector’s leading associations and organisations, and will provide over 70 specialist seminars on key subjects for the operational delivery of healthcare facilities. This year there are five theatres, each with a specific area of focus: The Design & Construction Theatre – sponsored by Gerflor, Gradus, and Future HealthSpaces. The presentations in this theatre will cover topics ranging from refurbishment to future estates planning, with content delivered by members of Architects for Health. The Energy & Sustainability Theatre – will feature content presented by the CEF (The Carbon and Energy Fund), an organisation launched by Greg Barker MP at Healthcare Estates 2011 which was specifically created to fund, facilitate, and project-manage, complex energy infrastructure upgrades for the NHS.

The Facilities Management Theatre – sponsored by SFG20, with presentations from members of NAHFO and IFE covering a wide range of topics, including the future of fire maintenance, Net Zero reporting, lighting control for hospitals, implementing an air cleaning strategy, and innovation in waste management. The HVAC & Engineering Theatre – this theatre’s content is supported by CIBSE and The Society of Public Health Engineers (SoPHE), whose members will deliver presentations including ‘Fixing water quality in closed loop networks’, ‘Energy Upgrades for existing ventilation systems’, and ‘A Bold New Way to Disinfect Hospitals’. Infection Control & Water Theatre – sponsored by Aqua Protec, Delabie, and IDEXX Technology. This theatre’s content is presented in association with the Closed Systems Control Association and the Water Management Society. Topics to be covered include infection control training, solutions for excessive cold water temperatures in plumbing installations, and the importance and potential pitfalls of remote monitoring solutions for water hygiene.
The Healthcare Estates IHEEM Awards & Dinner The annual Healthcare Estates IHEEM Awards will be held on the evening of 10 October at the iconic Kimpton Clocktower Hotel in Manchester. The Awards are the centrepiece of the annual IHEEM Dinner, a popular evening providing an excellent opportunity to network with colleagues, peers, and major names in the healthcare engineering and EFM sector. Awards will be presented in 12 categories judged by experts with extensive experience and achievements within the NHS and commercial healthcare sector. This year’s after-dinner guest speaker will be Nigel Owens MBE, the most capped referee in world rugby.
