INSIGHT SECURITY & SURVEILLANCE

EP Smit Senior Enterprise Solutions Manager, Dallmeier electronic

Artificial Intelligence can provide reliable classification of people or vehicles that can be used to determine loitering or crowd detection. But making use of interfaces to third-party gaming systems data can be aggregated and when certain events appear during a specific period of time our system can generate events that can draw an operator’s attention to investigate further.

Where are your products being used? In which jurisdictions?

Te Dallmeier product range is used all over the world in all different branches from casinos, industry, mining, stadiums, logistics, airports, safe cities to private homes. Te Hemisphere SeMSy Management system has specific, dedicated casino components which have been refined over our long history in the casino business. As each country has different jurisdictions with regards to casino regulations, our software has to be flexible enough to be able to adapt to these challenges.

What role do AI-based technologies play in your products when it comes to recognising suspicious winning patterns? How do you combine CCTV with newer technologies?

Accurate detection of cards and chips on the table using video analytics is a crucial first step in the chain of events that can provide analytical insight

into a table game. Without the use of AI the accuracy of video analytics is reduced

exponentially and useful data cannot be obtained to provide the level of accuracy that is needed for fraud detection.

Interfacing video analytics with RFID is a classic combination where two technologies can perform a check and balance of chips in the float for example.

How quickly can you detect fraud in a casino?

Te answer to this question is the same as “how long is a piece of string?”. Te system should be flexible enough to be able to adjust to customer and jurisdiction requirements with the ability to change thresholds for reporting fraudulent behaviour. Otherwise, the customer might be flooded with potential events that would only add to the operators’ stress levels, rather than providing a solution that assists in their day-to- day tasks.

What is the future of casino surveillance and investigation in terms of future products?

Te combination of Integration, AI and HI (Human Intelligence) in the right amounts of quantities for each is vital for future product development. Casino environments are challenging and customer behaviour is unpredictable. What works in an Asian casino may not work in a European or US casino due to differences in playing styles and customer behaviour. Providing the right amount and quality of information to operators is key to a product’s success.
