have expanded into other African states as well.
COVID understandably put the brakes on things, but our partnerships remained intact, we jointly weathered the storm, and I’m glad to say that we now are rather excited in respect of a number of opportunities across the continent which we trust will come to fruition in the not-too-distant future.
Duncan Pollock Managing Director: Africa DRGT
Where is the company's systems and technology live? Who are DRGT's biggest clients and where have the company's biggest installations been to date?
Allwin Language Chief Business Development Officer: Africa, DRGT
Duncan: Our biggest customer is based in South Africa, and we currently manage in excess of is 4,500 electronic bingo devices for them across over 30 nationwide locations. Tey make use of pretty much our entire product suite from management systems to player loyalty, cashless, cash desk and cage, player registration and tracking as well as our bonusing and tournament solutions. In fact, we recently managed a weekly real-time tournament for them across all of their venues. A promotion that was extremely well received by their players and ‘cut the mustard’ for Goldrush too.
DRGT's first installation in Africa was at the Prince Hotel, Ghana, in April 2010. How has the company scaled its operations in the 13+ years since?
Duncan: Interestingly, whilst that installation date is 100 per cent spot-on, our initial foray into Africa was via a local distributor called Simplicit-e Gaming Solutions (SGS). SGS initially took on the distribution of the then SiP product, one that DRGT subsequently purchased.
Notwithstanding that, SGS spent a significant amount of time and effort entrenching DRGT in Africa; so much so in fact, that in 2018 we reached agreement, along with our local partners Grand Parade Investments Limited, to acquire them and ultimately establish DRGT Africa (Pty) Ltd as it stands today.
Allwin: Exactly! Since that initial Ghanian install, I am pleased to say that we have made some significant in-roads both the casino management system (CMS) and jackpot technology sides of our business, particularly in South Africa, along with expansions in Seychelles where in addition to the CMS we had operating there we actually installed the Republic’s first ever Wide-Area Progressive Jackpot in 2021, and more installations for that very same Ghanaian customer, who now too
In addition to South Africa, we also operate our systems and/or jackpot technology in Malawi, Zambia, Uganda, Nigeria, Tanzania, Kenya, Botswana, and Seychelles amongst others. Our biggest single installation to date was a full slots and tables management system, player tracking, jackpot and cash desk install at a casino site in South Africa comprising just over 500 machines and around 30 tables; in fact at the time it was probably the biggest single install we’d done as the DRGT Group too.
Which has the higher install rate with African clients - DRGT's gaming and management systems or its jackpot technology? How does this product split differ between South Africa, Ghana, Nigeria, Tanzania, Malawi and the Seychelles?
Allwin:Most of our business partners operate our full management system, which would include the utilisation of our jackpot technology solution too; although due to the interoperability of our jackpot technology, as you well know, we do have quite a few customers that operate on a different management system but run our jackpot technology.
Duncan: Allwin’s quite right; in fact, our biggest wide-area progressive customer runs on a completely different management system to ours. I think the extent of the configuration options we offer, as well as our scalability, allows operators to expand popular and
