CASINO GAMING PERMIT(CGPS) Tese permits encompass online gambling offered by locally based operators. Licenses are valid for five years. Te license fee stands at N100,000,000.00. Te applicant must show evidence of Domain name registration with (ng/.com). Te applicant com- pany must have a minimum share capital of N30,000,000.00. License holders are allowed to offer live casino games, sports book, and virtual games. Proposed distribution channels: retail, web-based, SMS, Mobile app or other channels.


ONLINE Tere is no Nigerian law which expressly approves online gambling. However it comes under the definition of gambling as defined in the lotteries act. Te Commission has issued licenses to applicants so that they may offer online sport betting, lotteries and online casino games. Te terms for operators are outlined by the NLRC. In addition in October 2022 Nigeria announced that it was


set to introduce a new “remote operator permit” for offshore- licensed operators, allowing businesses to offer online gambling in Nigeria without a local presence.


REMOTE OPERATOR PERMITS If the operator already has a valid gaming licence issued by a foreign gaming regulator and wish to legally offer their services to players in Nigeria, they are required to apply for a Remote Operator Permit for Nigeria which is valid for five years. In order to be granted a permit, operators need to successfully complete the NLRC permit approval process which is administered by its managed services provider. Tose granted a permit are expected to adhere to the permit


terms and conditions as issued by the NLRC. Operators are expected to pay the total sum of US$500,000 for the five-year duration of the permit. Te fees can be paid annually with $100,000 per annum. Holders of the permit are mandated to pay 4.5 per cent of all


player deposits as gaming duties. Tis is done through a payment gateway called Sentinal. Sentinal is a technology system that instructs integrated providers to deduct taxes at the point of transaction. Tis was made possible after the government signed a deal with UK-based fintech company E-Technologies to help modernise its tax collection procedures for online gambling. facilities for gaming to players in Nigeria either online or through any other means of remote communication and who do not have a permit issued by the NLRC are committing an offence under the provisions of the Nigerian gaming legislation. Serious failures particularly in regard to responsible gaming and underage gaming may result in the company being placed on the “Remote Operator Blacklist.”
