Tsogo Sun Holdings/Hosken Consolidation Investments Tsogo Sun Limited (Tsogo Sun) is the largest Casino, Hotel and Entertainment company in South Africa. Te Group is listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE) and has a market capi- talisation of approximately R14bn. Hosken Consolidated In- vestments Limited (HCI), a JSE-listed investment holding company, directly and indirectly owns 49.5 per cent of the Tsogo Sun shares. Tsogo Sun owns and operates 14 premier casino and en- tertainment destinations and 19 Hotels throughout South Africa.
All of Tsogo Sun’s complexes incorporate ancillary offerings,
including accommodation in more than 1,700 rooms, conferencing facilities, a theme park, theatres, cinemas, restaurants and event spaces. Tsogo Sun’s land-based operations are complemented by online offerings trading under
playTsogo.co.za and
bet.co.za. Te online businesses include betting on sports and casino- styled games. Te Group is also active as VSlots in the Limited Payout Machine (LPM) market, providing slots with a limited bet and limited payout. In addition, Electronic Bingo Terminals (EBT’s) offer Bingo under the Galaxy Bingo brand, located at 23 sites across South Africa.
Sun International Sun International operates casinos in eight of the country's nine provinces. Sun International, valued at almost R11 billion, operates four resorts and hotels in SA: the Maslow in Sandton, the Wild Coast Sun in the Eastern Cape, the Table Bay Hotel, and Sun City in the North West. It also operates nine urban casinos, with at least one in every province except Mpumalanga, with these in- cluding Carnival City in Gauteng and the Western Cape's Grand- West. It also has an online offering, SunBet. In December Sun International 2023 announced that it had
agreed to buy the Peermont Group, looking to build scale and help build its online offering. Te acquisition, which values the enterprise at R7.3 billion, brings 11 properties and online betting platform PalaceBet. Te deal is subject to the fulfilment of con- ditions including approval by the competition authorities, the Gauteng Gambling Board and Sun International shareholders. If approved the purchase will also boost Sun International’s SunBet online betting platform, by expanding its reach across Peermont, which also owns an online betting brand, PalaceBet.
