July, 2021 RSF Launches Sealed Encoders for Metrology
SCHAUMBURG, IL — RSF Elektronik has launched a newly designed sealed linear encoder series for high-end metrology applications. Offered in North America through parent company HEIDENHAIN, these MSA 7xx/ 8xx model encoders offer high quality and easy mounting solu- tions well-suited for use on CMMs, optical comparators, and video measuring machines, among other types of measuring equipment. The MSA 7/8 series encoders
are ideal for high-end metrology on or off the shop floor, due to
their high signal quality and long-term stability, which is pro- vided by its integration of HSP 1.0 (HEIDENHAIN Signal Processing). HSP1.0 supplies online gain and offset stabiliza- tion, ensuring the best possible signals are generated from the 20 µm grating of the scale inside the aluminum extrusion, even in the presence of contamination. The thermal behavior of the
MSA 7/8 is adjustable based on variable fastening elements, allowing for different thermal fixed points, each of which provide a known temperature growth
characteristic for compensation within the control system. This is essential for metrology applica-

shipped with glass or glass ceramic (Robax) substrates, pro- viding standard and low CTE, depending on the application need. The MSA 7/8 encoders also

R&S Provides 5G RRM FR2 Conformance Tester
COLUMBIA, MD — The Global Certification Forum (GCF) has approved the first two radio resource management (RRM) conformance test cases for 5G FR2 frequencies, implemented on the R&S TS-RRM-NR 5G RRM conformance test system from Rohde & Schwarz. The test cases have been vali-
dated in seven FR2 and LTE band combinations. With this success, Rohde & Schwarz is leading the way in validated test cases for the technically challenging FR2 mmWave frequency bands. Conformance tests are vital

bands is crucial for a successful rollout of 5G NR technology worldwide. The GCF has official- ly accepted the R&S TS-RRM- NR as suitable for the 5G RRM FR2 requirements described in the 3GPP specifications. The GCF validation process requires PASS verdicts of the complete test case performed on two differ- ent end user devices. The updated version of the
R&S TS-RRM, the successful family of RRM conformance test systems from Rohde & Schwarz, has now accomplished this for FR2. RRM testing is a combina- tion of several protocol and RF test methods. It is used to deter- mine the reaction time of a cell phone to changes in signal quali- ty from the available sources, and the time it takes for the device to switch between differ-
ent signal sources. Contact: Rohde & Schwarz
