Electronics Mfg Legacies... Continued from previous page
Todd. “I was never around the in- dustry enough to really under- stand the technology although I was very intrigued by the stories he would tell and equipment he would show me.” Todd says he did not start
working with his dad until 2012, and began to truly discover the fascinating world of electronics manufacturing. “I really did not expect Todd to take part in WittcoSales when I started the company, even though I hoped he would,” adds Tom. “Todd had his own dreams to follow, which I’m glad he did, since my dad brought me into the family busi-
ness only after I had experience working for others. While Tom and Todd have
always been close, working to- gether has added another dimen- sion to their relationship. Todd has worked extremely hard to understand the electronics indus- try and has earned the respect of all of WittcoSales’ customers. “The relationships with cus-
tomers and principles that my dad has cultivated over the last 30 is inspiring,” says Todd. “I

may not be the smartest guy in the room, but that’s not my job. My job is to provide a comfort- able environment and introduc- tion in which I may build a rela- tionship and help find solutions for customers looking to grow their businesses.” Looking towards the future,

and goals, however, both of us have unique perspectives. I sometimes get caught up in the technological side, and [dad] is literally coming from a world where sales guys drove around with a map and used payphones to check in on customers.” The relationships that Tom
built went beyond conference rooms — lunches, dinners and even afternoons in the boat would be where work and life were often discussed. The solutions, though tech-
nological, were still about peo- ple. “My dad has taught me there is no better way than to be present,” says Todd. “To be suc- cessful you must embrace chang- ing times and culture, but some of the ‘old’ lessons still apply. My dad is not only my role model, mentor and business partner, but also my best friend.”
