CEA Improves Efficiency and Quality with Weller Soldering Tools

quickly,” adds Yauch. “The ther- mal response is lightning fast and the tip selection gives us the cor- rect tip geometry for any job.” He also says that the 120W
desolder handpiece provides enough power to desolder high mass multilayer boards, and that the thermal tweezers have great precision. Their unique alignment cartridge keeps the tips aligned for long-term functionality. Finally, he says that the hot
air handpiece is a full 200W so it has enough power to reflow QFNs and, when used with the nozzle repair kit, offers the ability to easily remove large surface mount devices without needing a separate hot air station. Weller’s WX1, WX2 and WX3
series soldering stations are intu- itive and easy to operate, due to their touchscreens and language options. The robust touchscreen is a capacitive touch panel made of glass that is both anti-static and temperature-resistant. The turn- and-click wheel with confirm but- ton enables intuitive operation. All WX stations have a tem-
perature stability of ±2°C (3.6°F) and a temperature accuracy of ±9°C (16.2°F) per IPC standard.
They can program any soldering process ef- fortlessly, and users can choose from one-, two- and three-channel stations for maxi- mum flexibility and scalability. Other benefits include programmability,
versatility (from micro to macro) and a mo- tion-activated feature, consuming power only when they are in use. In addition, the WX tool technology has memory integrated into the handles that records operating parame- ters, keeping all settings independent of the unit to which an operator connects. “I wasn’t planning to invest in new sol-
der stations, but I’m glad I did,” Yauch con- cludes. “Since converting to the new Weller WX series, my operators have been more effi-
cient, and they get the job done right the first time with higher quality. Never assume that you have the best tool for the job until you ac- tually see what new technologies are avail- able.
