Suwanee, GA — ASM Assembly Systems is delivering on its promise of an in- tegrated, Industry 4.0-capable solution, with connected technologies that span all elements of the factory floor. Cohesive and open data communication at every level forms the backbone of efficient and effective work- flows, and the company is among the first to deliver such a comprehensive solution. At IPC APEX 2020, high-speed and flex

lines at the center of the company’s booth il- lustrated the breadth of ASM’s equipment portfolio. The SIPLACE TX 96,000 cph 008004 (0201 metric) capable placement platforms, five-second cycle time DEK TQ stencil printer and AIV-enabled material delivery demon- strated closed-loop, zero-assist production of advanced assemblies. For operations that manage more prod-

uct variation, the flex line with ASM Process Expert self-learning print optimiza- tion, DEK NeoHorizon 03iX printing platform, high-performance ASM ProcessLens 5D SPI and scalable, side-by-side SIPLACE SX placement systems showcased seamless product changeover in a high-mix environ- ment.

Underscoring the importance of

digitalization and data analysis in the factory of the future, the ASM production lines were bookended by an impressive control center and a hands-on virtual reality (VR) train- ing experience. The company’s latest develop-

ments, the DEK TQ print platform and the SIPLACE AutoRefill Feeder, were also recognized with notable in- dustry awards during the event. DEK TQ was the recipient of the competitive “IPC APEX Expo Innova- tion Award,” bestowed by the IPC and evaluated by a panel of judges that hail from top assembly OEMs and contractors. One of only six products selected

for this honor, DEK TQ was chosen for its innovation, manufacturing im- pact and value to the customer. Through a combination of off-belt printing and a unique clamping sys- tem, DEK TQ delivers accuracy of ±17.55 µm @ 2 CpK wet print and en- sures reliable printing with 008004 (0201) components. The platform has the ability to run for eight continuous hours without assists, due to robust paste management and an unders- tencil cleaning system. The company was also acknowl-

edged for its placement innovation. Its new AutoRefill Feeder was given a Circuits Assembly NPI award. The AutoRefill Feeder helps to eliminate

Active tip technology

Incorporates an integral sensor located deep inside of the tip for optimal performance and quick recovery times while increasing productivity and delivering consistent results.

Patented tip and grip design Fast and hassle-free tip changing without needing any tool.

One intelligent WX platform

Run any RT tip from one WX station, meeting all operational hand soldering needs such as motion sensing or traceability with digital data storage in the soldering tool and station.

Precise control, ergonomic grip

The boomerang handle design allows for precise handling while providing an ergonomic and secure grip

hectic splicing processes and refill delay line stops. In conjunction with the active component reel, a second infeed can be used to equip another tape. If the first reel runs empty, the feeder

automatically switches to the second tape reel. With this system, operators can refill reels proactively as time permits, without any splicing.

Offline setup processes are accelerated

by an automatic infeed, the two reel per feed- er preparation capability helps to reduce re- fills on the line and gapless traceability is en- sured with automatic reel switch detection. Contact: ASM Assembly Systems, 3975
