December, 2020 Murata Releases Automotive MLCCs

SMYRNA, GA — Murata has introduced its KCM series of metal terminal type MLCCs with temperature compensating U2J charac- teristics for automotive applications. The company has also released its KRM series for general-purpose applications. These products are primarily designed for IGBT snubber circuits in automotive and industri- al equipment. A snubber circuit protects power supply

equipment that utilizes switching devices, such as IGBTs, by preventing the occurrence of high-voltage spikes during switching. The capacitor in the snubber circuit absorbs surge voltage generates by the inductance of the transformer, wiring, etc. As the use of more compact internal modules providing enhanced functionality

and SiC devices with superior heat tolerance becomes more widespread, there is a growing need for components that are smaller and can withstand high temperatures. The new MLCCs have lower loss and

produce less heat than similar products that use ceramic with a high dielectric constant. These metal terminal type MLCCs use tem- perature-compensating ceramic with mini- mal capacitance variation, making them excellent for use in snubber circuits that han- dle large voltages during switching, and where compactness and heat tolerance are

required. Contact: Murata Electronics North America, Inc., 2200 Lake Park Drive,

New PCAP Touchscreens Now From DATA MODUL

HAUPPAUGE, NY — DATA MODUL has introduced its easyTOUCH Plus series, a standard off-the-shelf product line that consists of printed cover glasses optically bonded to its propri- etary easyTOUCH PCAP products, alongside a matching controller. In contrast to DATA MODUL’s estab- lished easyTOUCH Display line, easyTOUCH Plus products are deliv- ered without a preassembled display. This approach offers customers more flexibility when selecting a suitable display for PCAP applications. The new displays will be offered

initially with diagonals of 7 and 10 in. (178 and 254 mm) with many
