Testing GAITHERSBURG, MD —GL Commu- nications is now offering services for testing both legacy and next-genera- tion networks simultaneously through a single self-contained platform. This platform is a 1U rack chassis that houses several interfaces for network testing, including VJ, FXO and FXS, T1 E1, datacom, and Ethernet ports. This platform can analyze and
emulate traffic traversing these links. For example, it can perform bit error rate testing, send, and receive tones, digits, audio files, packets, and more. The platform can also monitor and record traffic by being placed in- line on a network. Also included in the 1U rack en-
closure is a single-board computer which controls the tProbe™ and PacketExpert. This single-board computer will come preinstalled with all required GL software to fully con- trol the hardware. take corrective action and add costs by extending development time, dou- bling required resources and enter- ing the market much later than in- tended. Selecting the best controller for
a given application can depend on factors such as cost and availability as well as performance. Anders has

A low-cost controller can often
be tuned to deliver satisfactory per- formance, particularly with small display sizes and when the operating environment is relatively benign.
