Transformers & Inductors

Surface Mount & Thru-Hole

EAGAN, MN — Ironwood Electronics has released a new stamped spring pin socket, addressing the high per- formance requirements of testing BGA780 packages — CBT-BGA- 7054. The contactor is a stamped spring pin with a 31g (1.1 oz) actua- tion force per ball and cycle life of 125,000 insertions. The self inductance of

the contactor is 0.88 nH, insertion loss less than 1 dB at 15.7 GHz and capaci- tance of 0.097 pF. The cur- rent capacity of each con- tactor is 4A at a 72°F (40°C) temperature rise. The sock- et’s operating temperature range is –67 to +356°F (–55C to +180°C). The socket has a

clamshell lid for ease of chip replacement in pro- duction, as well as a float- ing pin guide for precise ball-to-pin alignment. It also has an integrated compression plate for vertical force actuation without distorting device position. The socket is made for BGAs

0.75 x 0.75 in. (19 x 19 mm) in size, with 0.026 in. (0.65 mm) pitch, and 708 balls in a 28 x 28 array. The socket is mounted using supplied hardware on the target PCB with no soldering and, according to the com- pany, has the smallest footprint in the industry. Its small footprint allows it to accommodate nearby inductors,

resistors and decoupling capacitors. The BGA is placed into the

socket and lid closed by snapping a latch. Vertical force is applied by turning a lever, which actuates a cam that compresses a spring-loaded plate onto the BGA device. The sock- et has a central opening for thermo-

couples to be placed close to the device’s top surface or for a thermal stream to be flown to heat the device to a specific temperature. The socket is designed for quick

device screening, device characteri- zation at extreme temperatures and

for final production test. Contact: Ironwood Electronics,

Drive hard.

Drive safe. WE-AGDT Gate Drive Transformer

WE-AGDT The WE-AGDT series from Würth Elektronik allows implementing discrete SiC gate driver designs easier than ever before. These standard parts are compact SMT transformers optimized for silicon carbide applications. With extremely low interwinding capacitance, the WE-AGDT helps to achieve higher Common Mode Transient Immunity (CMTI). The series is compliant with safety standards according to IEC62368-1 / IEC61558-2-16 in addition to AEC-Q200 qualifi cation. Reference designs are available for each WE-AGDT transformer. The complete solution is compact and capable of fully automated assembly.
