Traka’s DockSafe management solution is a sophisticated, yet simple to install drive off prevention system, designed to stop vehicles prematurely leaving the Goods Out and Goods In bays of a busy distribution centres.

When an HGV trailer is decoupled and parked against a loading bay door there is a heightened risk of “drive offs,” whereby the wrong trailer is moved or pulled away from the bay door before the loading operation is complete.

An innovation in wireless emergency fire, first aid, and intruder alarms for construction sites, the Cygnus wireless alarm system has been designed for specific use on construction sites where changing site conditions and environments demand a far higher performance from the radio than those found in standard wireless fire alarm systems.

Each unit in the system can provide the panel with information at regular intervals. This information confirms the unit is still present and what the battery status of each device is. Known as the ‘heart beat’, this message is monitored by the control panel where fitted, and if the ‘heart beat’ is not heard for several intervals, the control panel logs a full status for that unit.

The Cygnus Alarm System can also be linked via an interface unit to access control systems and release turnstiles, and other access systems to ensure the safe evacuation of a construction site.

Since its inception, the Cygnus Alarm System has been used on some of the largest construction projects across the UK including Big Ben, Shell offices in London, Tottenham Hotspurs Stadium and Bond Street Station. Tweet us @TomorrowsHS

The implications, should this occur, are significant, often resulting in serious injury and even death. Current statistics suggest 12% of 246,000 of reported major workplace accidents, occur during loading and unloading or goods.

Traka’s intelligent DockSafe solution isolates the trailer and is interlocked directly with the relevant dock door control mechanism. This ensures a safe working environment is maintained and the system is only released once the loading operation is complete.

What are the benefits?

• Eliminate drive offs by ensuring that drivers cannot pull trailers away from loading bays before the loading bay door has been made safe.

• A fully audited system – drivers details and actions are recorded and traceable.

• Increased safety compliance and safer use of shunter vehicles. • Improve warehouse security. • Minimise human error.

• A fully integrated system offering both Goods In and Goods Out dock door control.

• Reports can be generated and information stored indefinitely.

DockSafe is currently used in Goods Out Bays, including Tesco Distribution Network, which receives and dispatches over 50,000 vehicles. AWARDS 2019 9
