INDUSTRY? Raise the profile of our industry to wider audiences. The talent and innovation we cultivate is remarkable and our industry should have a bigger voice and stronger position amongst the industries we serve.

WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST JOB? I was a Trainee Accountant at


Zenith Carburettors.


HOW DID YOU GET INTO THE CLEANING INDUSTRY?


Having the desire to own my own business, I researched various markets and was introduced to Diversey through one of my friends who worked there at the time. As I learned more about Diversey, their business model and the cleaning industry and its necessity, I knew this was an industry I wanted to be involved in. I invested my savings in a small start-up, Francis Chemicals, and the rest, as they say, is history.

PERSONALITY? Ambitious, driven, conscientious.


IF YOU COULD VISIT ONE PLACE IN THE WORLD,


WHERE WOULD YOU GO AND WHY? Japan. I have always enjoyed travelling and experiencing new cultures and Japan is high on my list. Why? Because of the distinct culture, traditions and stunning landscapes.

ALIVE, WHO WOULD THEY BE AND WHY? Nelson Mandela, an inspiring leader yet humble and forgiving man. Margaret Thatcher, so I could hear first-hand about her work during the 1970s and ‘80s. And finally Elon Musk of Tesla Inc, a pioneer with a fascinating entrepreneurial story. His work at Tesla demonstrates his innovative thinking.

WHAT, DO YOU THINK, IS THE FUTURE OF THE


CLEANING INDUSTRY? The future is bright. The future lies in innovation to create effective technology to support the cleaning process, as does continued research into new raw materials to improve the effectiveness of cleaning products. It is however essential we do not forget the basics. The importance of personal hygiene will become more relevant as antibiotic resistance increases.

WHERE DO YOU SEE THE ROLE OF TRADITIONAL


CLEANING PRODUCTS LIKE TEXTILES – WHICH HAVE ALWAYS BEEN MANUFACTURED USING HIGH PROPORTIONS OF RECYCLED MATERIALS – AS THE INDUSTRY MOVES TOWARDS A MORE SUSTAINABLE FUTURE? Traditional cleaning products manufactured from recycled materials have a dominant role and this will not change anytime soon. Like ourselves, manufacturers and suppliers of these products need to continue thinking outside the box for ways to develop products which are complementary to a total hygiene solution.
