NEW SMART WATER MANAGEMENT

SOLUTION Derby-based washroom water conservation and services company HSG has launched a smart water management system.

The Uretech Plus system is currently on trial at a number of venues ahead of the official rollout. It builds on the success of HSG’s unique two-fold system – the Ureco urinal sleeve and Uretech water management system – by providing minute-by-minute water usage readings over Wi-Fi to laptop, tablet or smartphone.

It also alerts the venue to a leak (through abnormally high water usage) as soon as it happens and remotely turns the water off to prevent damage and wastage.

CHSA DONATION BUYS RNIB NEW

TALKING BOOKS The £14,000 raised for the Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB) by the Cleaning & Hygiene Suppliers Association (CHSA) in 2017 is being used to record unabridged audiobooks for RNIB’s Talking Books Library.

Stephen Harrison, Chairman of the CHSA and MD of Harrison Wipes, visited RNIB’s Camden Studios earlier this month to record the dedication, to be played at the start of every copy.

HSG Managing Director Simon Rice explained: “The resounding success of the Ureco and Uretech system led us to start discussing with our customers where we needed to go next to save them even more water and money spent on utilities. The feedback was that they required minute by minute information about water usage so that they could monitor high usage

the generosity of CHSA members who attended the annual Gala Ball in May 2017 and the organisation’s Pro-Am Charity Golf Day, held in September 2017.

Harry Meade, RNIB Corporate Partnerships Manager, said: “Our audiobooks, which are free of charge to blind and partially sighted people, can be a lifeline. We are very grateful for the donation, which will allow us to record five or six new books.”

Stephen Harrison added: “We’re delighted to help RNIB produce these books. RNIB is a charity close to my heart. I have been inspired by a friend who has sight loss and with whom I am now training, as his guide runner, to run a half marathon. He came with me to the recording studio and saw, first hand, how the books that make such a difference to so many people are recorded.”

RNIB is the CHSA Chairman’s Charity for 2018 too. Funds raised at the 2018 Gala Ball on 11 May and the 2018 Pro-Am Charity Golf Day in September will be donated to RNIB at the end of the year.
