BY MANCHESTER CLEANING SHOW 2018

The Manchester Cleaning Show was bigger and busier this year, as its second show eclipsed its inaugural event two years ago according to the British Cleaning Council (BCC).

The 2018 show attracted more than 2,400 visitors to Event City, next to The Trafford Centre in Manchester. This represented an increase of almost 5% over the first show, which took place back in 2016.

Registration data revealed that 64% of attendees were cleaning professionals, alongside visitors from the FM, education, health, social care and hospitality sectors.

The number and size of stands was also greater than the previous show, attracting 27% more exhibitors and taking up 40% more floor space. Delegates were attracted from more than 20 different countries.

Amongst the standholders was Nilfisk, who brought along one of their SC6000 Ride-on Scrubber Dryers, which took first place in the Tomorrow’s Cleaning Awards 2018.

Stan Atkins, Chair of the BCC, said: “After the incredible success of the first Manchester Cleaning Show there was some nervousness that the very impressive visitor numbers from two years ago could have been in part driven by the novelty value of a new show.

“However, these fantastic figures demonstrate that there is an appetite among both exhibitors and visitors to sustain a regional edition of the event which can successfully alternate with the main Cleaning Show in London every two years.”

Jangro provided attendees with refreshments via the Jangro bus, the Federation of Window Cleaners supplied entertainment as many took on and tried to beat Terry “Turbo” Burrows’ Guinness World Record for window cleaning, and Floorbrite challenged attendees to stand in a cyclone chamber and collect coloured balls for points.

Vanessa Van Santen-Smith, Event Director for Quartz, said: “The feedback we have received from exhibitors and visitors has been remarkable and we’re thrilled that the Manchester Cleaning Show is now established as a regular date in the calendar for cleaning, hygiene and FM professionals.

“It’s now full steam ahead as we look forward to the Cleaning Show in London in March 2019 where we will see an even larger number of major international brands, and more domestic and overseas visitors, attending what is the UK’s premiere cleaning event.”
