14:00 - 14:30 Simavi
The supply of safe water and sanitation facilities is crucial to ensure adequate hygiene in health facilities. In Tanzania, this is a major challenge. A survey done in 2015 shows that only 44% of HCFs had functioning toilets while 68% has an improved water source. Simavi addresses this challenge. Within the MKAJI programme, 90 health facilities in Dodoma region are provided with good quality WASH infrastructure. The central focus within the programme is on improved management skills and hygiene training to the staff working at health centres in the Dodoma region. Local communities are actively involved as well. In this presentation, the challenges and lessons learned will be shared, as well as the recommendations for improving the quality of care to prevent the spread of diseases, and ensure a healthy life for all.

Dispenser reprocessing in medical context is often associated with significant personnel and time exposures. The whole process includes the manual or mechanical reprocessing in itself and further procedures like logistical and organizational aspects. New approaches are necessary to optimize procedures in dispenser cleaning. Intelligent monitoring systems with smart dispensers offer a big opportunity for the healthcare and cleaning industry to improve reprocessing and refilling procedures through a real-time filling level control, as well as alert functions for dispenser cleaning and maintenance.
