AND THE WINNERS ARE...

Once again, the Amsterdam Innovation Award will be one of the most hotly anticipated events taking place at Interclean Amsterdam 2018. Here, we have a look at the nominees for this year.

For organisations in the professional cleaning and hygiene industry, the Amsterdam Innovation Award is a prestigious date on the calendar. It's a celebration of the most innovative products and services to have appeared over the past year – as well as an indicator of where the future of the industry is heading. There's no doubt it will, once again, be one of the most popular and talked about events at Interclean Amsterdam.

This year's awards event has seen the number of categories grow from three to four, adapting to the ever-changing nature of innovation across the industry. Covering Management & Mobility Solutions/E-Cleaning, Equipment, Machines and Related Products/Services, there are now three shortlisted nominees in each category. This means the jury have had an even tougher task this year to pick out the overall winner.

Michelle Marshall, Chair of the Amsterdam Innovation Award jury and Editor of the European Cleaning Journal, said: “We must congratulate all our final nominees for this year’s award, and also everyone who submitted an entry. I know I speak on behalf of all the judges when I say we had many interesting products to read about.

“What was particularly interesting was the broad spread of different developments now being brought to all segments of the market. Yes, there were a number of new ‘smart’ solutions using the latest IoT technology; however, there were also notable new tools tackling the day-to-day needs of the cleaning operative at ground level.”

In the Management & Mobility Solutions/E-Cleaning category, shortlisted entries include ADLATUS Robotics with its ADLATUS Service Station for Cleaning Robots, Diversey for IntelliLinen, and INPACS for its Orbita Dashboard.

The Equipment category features Diversey for its MoonBeam 3 UVC Disinfection System, SYR for the Powr- Mop Lite, and Vermop Salmon for its Vermop System ONe.

Shortlisted for the Machines category are Kärcher for its KIRA B 50, Unger Germany for the HydroPower RO, and Wetrok for its Wetrok Automatic Marvin.

And, finally, in the Related Products/Services category, the featured nominees are Dityspray for Dityspray, Tork for its Tork PaperCircle, and Werner & Mertz Professional for the green-Effective Performance Calculator.

The shortlisted products will be on display throughout Interclean Amsterdam 2018 in the InnovationLAB (Hall 8).

Michelle concluded: “Year after year, we can observe that cleaning solutions providers are becoming more focused on meeting the needs of the workforce and building users too. This enhances the daily operation of the cleaning team, and consequently the ‘experience’ of the end customer within that particular site.”

Joining Michelle on the jury are Pierre Deschamps, Chief Editor of Batiment Entretien magazine based in France; Dick van Zomeren, industry expert and Editor of Service Management magazine in the Netherlands; Rob Geissler, Publisher of Sanitary Maintenance and Faculty Cleaning Decisions in the US; Ton van der Riet, Managing Director of Senzora in the Netherlands; Reinhard Knittler, Publisher of Renigungs Markt magazine in Germany; Cor van der Velden, Chief Expert at Skills Netherlands; and Antonio Borreda, Director of Revista Limpiezas in Spain.

As well as the Amsterdam Innovation Award, visitors are able to vote for their favourite innovation from the shortlisted nominees. The innovation with the greatest number of votes will receive the Visitors' Choice Award.

The overall winner of the Amsterdam Innovation Award, the four category winners and the Visitors' Choice Award will be announced at a special ceremony starting at 10:00AM on Tuesday 15 May in the InnovationLAB.
