Recofloor is the UK’s national vinyl flooring recycling scheme, established by leading flooring manufacturers Altro and Polyflor. The scheme has recycled more than 1,260 tonnes of waste vinyl flooring since its 2009 inception.
Waste vinyl material is collected from flooring contractors, construction sites, schools, hospitals, large PFI sites. Recofloor accepts clean post-installation vinyl made by any manufacturer and smooth uplifted vinyl as long as it meets specifications.
Smooth and safety off-cuts are recycled back into new flooring products. Smooth uplifted flooring goes back into traffic calming products such as cones and sign bases. Recofloor’s 470-plus members across the UK and Ireland comprise flooring contractors and drop-off sites at flooring distributors. The scheme’s flexibility enables all supply chain sectors to engage in recycling. This helps local authorities, distributors, contractors and facilities managers to divert growing volumes of waste vinyl flooring from landfill - reducing disposal costs and helping firms to meet their sustainability goals.
