2 ENVEA announces acquisition of APAQ Group

ENVEA has announced it has acquired Asia Pacific Air Quality Group (APAQ Group). The financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed. APAQ Group is a specialist air quality business based in Singapore. With clients across Asia, it offers planning, consultancy and integration services for ambient air and emission analysis systems. Its expertise includes the entire spectrum of air quality monitoring instrumentation, including gaseous pollutants, particulates, odour, Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC), as well as climate and meteorology. Headquartered in Singapore with offices in Indonesia, APAQ Group offers an attractive geographical footprint and opportunities throughout the region.

This acquisition is core to developing ENVEA’s presence and reach in Asia, and is complementary to its existing product portfolio, technology offering and customer base.

Trevor Sands, CEO of ENVEA, said: “We are pleased to announce this significant acquisition, expanding our footprint in Asia as well as our portfolio of environmental management solutions. APAQ Group is a high-quality business with strong management and well-established local teams, and we believe it will offer ENVEA a range of opportunities to expand significantly in the region. We look forward to welcoming the team to ENVEA as we continue our exciting growth journey globally.”

Cyril Bourdarot, Managing Director on the Carlyle Europe Technology Partners (CETP) advisory team, said: “This acquisition expands ENVEA’s presence across Asia, a key market for the business due to the growing demand for environmental management solutions. Following the recent acquisitions of CAI in the US and Hycontrol and CBISS in the UK, this deal further enhances ENVEA’s position as a leading buy-and-build consolidation platform globally in the highly fragmented environmental monitoring and data processing space, a key part of ESG trends globally.”

Attilio Poli, Managing Director at APAQ Group, said: “In ENVEA, we have found a strong partner with a world-class suite of technologies and products to support the growth and innovation of environmental management solutions in our markets. We have several markets with significant greenfield opportunities in Southeast Asia. We are excited by the prospect of collaborating to better serve our customers and contribute to cleaner and healthier environments globally. We look forward to working with Trevor and the team.”

APAQ Group is ENVEA’s fourth acquisition since Carlyle acquired a majority stake in the business in 2020. For More Info, email:

Blackline Safety secures largest contract in company’s history

Blackline Safety Corp. has announced its largest contract to date – an $8.5 million deal to protect 1,025 workers at a major North American midstream company.

The contract expands the company’s original $3.5 million deal with Blackline – announced in September 2023 — to protect more than 850 workers. Combined with the previous deal, Blackline devices now protect all the company’s nearly 2,000 field and site workers.

In a landmark move set to revolutionise water safety across Asia, Switzerland’s bNovate Technologies SA, which provides rapid monitoring and analysis of water, sealed its very first partnership in Asia, appointing Singapore’s MattenPlant as its official Asian distributor.

This significant collaboration was cemented during the Singapore International Water Week. bNovate CEO Serge Gander and MattenPlant CEO Victor Lim joined forces to bring cutting-edge, automated solutions for industrial microbiology to new markets, especially in the food and beverage sectors in the Philippines and Vietnam.

“We are thrilled to partner with MattenPlant,” said Serge Gander, CEO of bNovate. “Their expertise in integrating water technologies and their strong presence in Asia align perfectly with our global ambition of making water safer with our automated and digital monitoring solutions. This agreement marks a significant milestone for bNovate, enabling us to reach new markets and better serve our customers.”

Using state-of-the-art flow cytometry technology, bNovate’s BactoSense instrument measures cell concentrations in just 20 minutes, proactively addressing abnormalities and deviations from baseline microbial profiles. This technology ensures swift, accurate, waterborne microbe detection, safeguarding public health and industry standards.

Victor Lim, CEO of MattenPlant, shared his enthusiasm: “We are very impressed with what bNovate brings to the market in their range of monitoring equipment. This is an exciting opportunity for our companies to work together and bring highly effective water safety solutions to our customers, particularly in the food and beverage industry. We will leverage our local presence to provide training, service and pilot testing. This is to enhance customer’s engagement and experience of BactoSense”

Asia faces significant water challenges in many regions, including contamination from industrial and agricultural activities, rapid urbanisation and inadequate water infrastructure. The partnership with MattenPlant addresses these critical issues by introducing advanced Swiss water monitoring technologies that provide real-time, precise data, enabling proactive management and remediation. By leveraging bNovate’s innovative solutions, communities and industries across Asia can achieve safer, cleaner water, ultimately enhancing public health and supporting sustainable development. This collaboration represents a pivotal step in transforming regional water safety standards, ensuring that every drop meets the highest quality standard.

The midstream company purchased 1,025 G7 wearable gas-detection and lone worker devices, along with monitoring services. It also purchased 753 G7 Bridges to keep workers connected in remote areas via satellite.

Prior to the first deal, the midstream company performed a comprehensive review of all available gas detection and lone worker devices, and Blackline came out on top. The G7’s ability to tell them immediately when and where someone needs help — even in confined spaces and remote locations with no cellular signal — sealed the deal and the company moved to standardize on Blackline across their organization.

“We’re thrilled Blackline has become the preferred safety tech provider for this major midstream customer,” said Sean Stinson, Blackline Safety President and Chief Growth Officer. “Our devices are unique in the market — no other gas detection company provides real-time connectivity even in remote areas. Workers are never alone when they have Blackline at their side.”

The award-winning wearable G7 — with features such as SOS latch, fall and no motion detection, and real-time connectivity — provides a critical lifeline in case of emergency. When pairing G7x devices with G7 Bridge, which provides satellite connectivity in remote areas or regions with poor cellular connectivity, even the most remote workers are connected in real-time.

This announcement is the largest in Blackline’s history, topping the $7.8 million utility industry announcement made in late 2021. These large, enterprise deals demonstrate the depth of Blackline’s market acceptance across a variety of verticals as customers around the world realize the value of Blackline’s life-saving technology.
