Air Monitoring - UK Focus
Latest Multigas FTIR Analysers can be Hired FTIR gas analysers have
become popular in a wide variety of gas detection and
monitoring applications because of their ability to measure almost any gas. However, the cost of this equipment can exceed the budgets of those that could benefit from this sophisticated technology, so
Quantitech has established a small range of FTIR gas analysers that are available for hire.
Typical applications for FTIR gas analysis include industrial emissions monitoring, occupational safety surveys, engine exhaust testing, process monitoring, leak detection, emergency response, chemical spill and fire investigations, breathing gas analysis and many others.
The Gasmet FTIR emissions analyser is MCERTS approved for nine of the most important parameters. However, with such a vast array of measurable parameters possible, existing users are also able to take measurements for process control.
The new Gasmet DX4040 portable FTIR multi-gas analyser is also available for hire. It enables users to measure up to 25 (user defined) ambient gases simultaneously, but can also operate with a laptop or PC to analyse spectra for thousands of gases.
Quantitech’s Dr Andrew Hobson is available to
offer help and advice on the use of FTIR gas analysis and is responsible for configuring each rented analyser.

New Technology for Onsite ‘Lab Analysis’
Torion Technologies (USA) has appointed Milton Keynes based
Quantitech to distribute a unique portable gas chromatograph toroidal ion trap mass spectrometer (GC-TMS), in the UK and Ireland.
The TRIDION-9 is the world’s fastest and most portable GC-MS. Combining a high speed GC with a miniaturised TMS in a lightweight, field-portable instrument, the TRIDION-9 is designed to rapidly detect an enormous variety of chemical compounds in the field.
Quantitech MD Keith Golding says: “The collection and distribution of samples for laboratory analysis is an expensive, time-consuming activity which can incur substantial delays. So, fast laboratory-grade analysis on-site, is a tremendous advantage in many applications including environmental and food.”
The TRIDION-9 is able to analyse gaseous, liquid or solid samples, and a range of CUSTODION solid phase microextraction (SPME) syringes have been developed to provide this flexibility.

Portable FTIR Multigas Analyser
New Portable Oil in Water Analyser
Instrumentation specialist Quantitech has launched a new portable infrared analyser, the InfraCal 2. Based on the original highly popular InfraCal, the latest version offers a host of new features such as multiple calibrations, lower detection limits, faster analysis, data logging and a new touch screen with security features.
The InfraCal2 has been developed for applications such as sub-ppm detection of oil in water, monitoring cleaning efficiency of metal parts, measuring barrier layers in flexible films, textiles and fibre finishes, and quality control.
Providing easy, reliable, measurements in typically less than one minute, the InfraCal 2 is also a rugged, sturdy piece of equipment with a very low maintenance requirement. The ability to produce accurate readings in the field offers users a number of important benefits including faster results, lower costs per tests and it avoids the problems associated with preserving samples during transport. Costs are lower in comparison with a laboratory FTIR Spectrometer, but also because sample transport costs are avoided.
Commenting on the launch of the InfraCal2, Quantitech’s Dr Andrew Hobson says: “Over 3000 InfraCal instruments have been sold worldwide, so this model will still be available, but for those customers willing to spend more on the new features, the InfraCal2 will be a great alternative.”
