Portable / Field Testing Three New Handheld Test & Measurement Tools

Diagnosing problems on the jobsite just got easier thanks to the launch of three new handheld test and measurement tools from RIDGID (Belgium). The company is adding the micro DM-100 digital multimeter, the micro CM-100 digital clamp meter and the micro HM-100 temperature humidity meter to its extensive diagnostics portfolio.

Featuring a double-molded, water-resistant (1m) IP67 housing, this drop-proof piece of kit can withstand the harshest jobsite conditions. The micro DM- 100 is a True RMS and AutoRanging unit, giving contractors fast, accurate measurements in all applications.

It offers 11 electrical functions ranging from AC/DC voltage & current (1000V) to temperature measurements. The DM-100 is also rated for industrial use (CAT III-1000V & IV-600V), and features an extra-large backlit LCD display for clear readings.

Another True RMS & AutoRanging unit, the micro CM-100 has a large capacity and measuring range. It can clamp around cables up to 30mm O.D. and measure current up to 1000A AC/DC. The micro CM-100 can also be used as a multimeter for eight other functions, and gives clear and accurate readings via its large backlit LCD display. The slim, double-molded design makes the tool easy for contractors to grip with one hand – ideal for confined cable compartments.

This professional, easy-to-use device accurately measures air humidity and temperature, with the %RH and °C /°F instantly and simultaneously displayed on the dual backlit LCD. With one push of a button contractors can quickly assess indoor air quality, air conditioning systems, ventilation and storage conditions.

The micro HM-100 is perfect for any HVAC environment – it automatically calculates the dew point and wet bulb temperature, while its capacitance sensor easily withstands condensation and high temperatures.

Enver Celik, RIDGID product manager, comments: “We’ve had really positive feedback from contractors on the rugged design and extensive features of our current line of test and measurement tools, like the laser distance meter, infrared thermometer, gas leak detector, cross line laser and inspection cameras.

“This feedback very much guided the concept and development of the new micro DM-100, CM-100 and HM-100 tools. They make diagnostics really easy and contractors can rely on fast, accurate results – exactly what they expect from RIDGID tools.”

A new portable, continuous measurement formaldehyde (HCHO) meter is now available from GrayWolf (USA). A reusable sensor cartridge employs the chemical reaction between formaldehyde and ß-diketone on a porous glass. The yellowing that results from this reaction is measured via photoelectric photometry with accurate readings to <20ppb HCHO, without significant cross-sensitivity, making it ideal for Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) applications. The unit ‘re-zeros’ between 30-minute tests allowing for continuous monitoring (unique for this technology), and provides an output for real-time connection to GrayWolf’s AdvancedSense meters, WolfPack area monitors and to WolfSense enabled mobile PCs.

Some key facts about this highly innovative meter: The FM-801 may be used for continuous monitoring and/or for 30-minute spot checks, The sensor cartridges are re-useable; up to 1000 tests per cartridge (at low formaldehyde levels), The base unit may be used as an independent, simple data-logger, with data downloaded to GrayWolf’s WolfSense PC software and The FM- 801 can also be interfaced to a GrayWolf AdvancedSense meter, WolfPack monitor or WolfSense enabled WIN7 Tablet/Notebook. FM-801 readings are simultaneous to readings from any other sensors connected to the AdvancedSense, WolfPack, or Laptop and

are logged into the same data file. Attach audio/photo/video/drawing/text notes to data files for efficient, reliable documentation of surveys. Measurement range is from <20ppb to 1ppm.

The FM-801 formaldehyde meter kit is supplied with a mini-tripod, 5 sensor cartridges, a set of alkaline batteries, AC adapter, WolfSense PC data transfer/reporting software (on CD-ROM or USB key), a USB download cable and a hard-shell carrying case.
