26 Water/Wastewater Portable Electrochemical Meter


The new SD 300 pH from Tintometer is a rugged, portable hand-held device, watertight to IP67, for the measurement of pH, Redox potential and temperature. With its background illumination, the large, user-friendly display makes any measurement an easy operation. The extremely high resolution (0.001 / 0.1 mV) guarantees maximum accuracy. Automatic temperature compensation and buffer detection are further features of the SD 300 pH. The unit can be provided with a PC interface (USB / serial or analogue) so that measurements can be evaluated and printed out quickly and easily. Further functions include: data-logger and alarm; a status display for battery and electrode; an indicator to show when the battery needs changing; as well as Auto-Off, Auto-Hold or a min/max memory status.


Supplied with a practical, protective outer shell, the SD 300 pH guarantees reliable operation in extreme conditions. A handy bracket on the back of the unit can also be used to stand the meter on


a flat surface, hang it on a wall or to clip the meter to a trouser belt. A wide range of electrodes and sensors can be supplied, depending on the application.


The SD 300 pH can be sourced in two separate sets or as a single unit, both alternatives in a compact plastic case.

Cost Effective UV Spectroscopic Analysis of Water


The UV300, from Tethys Instruments (France) is a cost effective water analyser for applications focused on one or two parameters.


Mainly based on uv spectroscopy, well known for its stability and low operating cost, the UV300 can measure parameters like organic matter, nitrate, colour, aromatics hydrocarbons (pah). Complementary modules allows the measurement of po4 by colorimetric method and turbidity by a visible or infra-red laser diode. External probes can be added for physicochemical parameters like pH, orp, dissolved oxygen and conductivity.


Thanks to its automatic cleaning system and its extremely long life time lamp, the maintenance is roughly limited to the periodic refill of the inexpensive cleaning solution.


A new web-based interface allows the control and the troubleshooting at distance using an internet browser on a computer, tablet or i-phone.

First Sales of Trace Metal Analysers in Scandinavia


Modern Water plc (UK), the owner of specialist water technologies for the production of fresh water and monitoring of water quality, has continued to grow its global presence with first sales of its trace metal analysers in Scandinavia.


The order for Modern Water’s OVA on-line monitoring product has been received from Tekniska Verken Power Plant in Linkoping in Sweden, a company that will use the equipment for real-time monitoring of zinc, cadmium and lead. Tekniska Verken Power Plant, which uses fuel classified as waste, will be monitoring metal levels in its flue gas condensate. The OVA has been set up to monitor both during the treatment of the condensate and before the treated effluent is released into a local river. The OVA will generate savings by reducing external laboratory costs, as well as making the treatment process more efficient, and by reducing the volumes of water requiring off-site treatment.


Modern Water’s Chief Executive, Simon Humphrey, commented: “We are excited to have sold our first trace metal monitoring equipment in Scandinavia and look forward to pursuing further opportunities for many other waste to energy power plants around the world.”
