Comprehensive Range of Autoclaves


Astell’s comprehensive range of autoclaves includes units from 30 litres to 3,000 litres. All feature the highly acclaimed ‘Logi’ control system, with full colour touchscreen, continuous data archiving, and unique ‘self-help tutorial’ feature.


Models are available with all necessary options to ensure optimum performance in the most demanding situations. Various types of air/water cooling are offered to significantly reduce cycle times when fluids are being processed, whilst vacuum, combined with a heated jacket, ensures both efficient air removal and effective drying when required. A wide selection of data logging, recording and monitoring options are also available, including RS232 and Ethernet connectivity.


Astell’s latest autoclave, the Duaclave, features two identical chambers, one directly above the other. This is the ideal autoclave where laboratory space is at a premium.


Astell’s products have been developed over 100 years, and in addition to autoclaves, the company offers independent steam generators in three sizes, and effluent decontamination systems for high containment laboratories.

All the excellent ease-of-use features of the Stuart®


SI500 shaking incubator are featured


in a video, the first product demonstration video on the company’s website. The compact benchtop SI500 combines orbital shaking and incubation, providing perfectly controlled and uniform conditions for biological growth.


The Stuart SI500 product video gives an excellent presentation of the unit in action, particularly hands-on use of the unique retractable stainless steel platform. This allows convenient access to every sample, even those right at the back of the sample chamber. The versatile clamping system for securing flasks of most sizes can be seen at work, as well as the angle-adjustable stainless steel accessory tube racks with patent-pending Magnalock system for quick coupling and de-coupling.


The new video shows just how quick and simple it is to specify the required shaking speed and set the integrated timer, for any period from 1 second to 9 days. The easy-to- use digital LED control panel also enables the incubation temperature to be set between ambient temperature +7ºC and 60ºC.

Skadi Europe BV launches a revolutionary new portable -86ºC ultra low temperature freezer. This ULT Freezer requires only 12 Volts input and uses less than 150 Watts of power. In fact, this ULT freezer can be powered by a standard cigarette lighter accessory port available in modern automobiles. In case of power failure the unit remains -86ºC on a standard UPS or battery.


The 25 litre freezer is cooled using Stirling technology. The Free Piston Stirling Cooler (FPSC) is a device which excludes the use of heavy and space consuming compressors. Gas bearings allow the only two moving parts of the system to ‘ride on a cushion of air’ keeping the running surfaces from making contact while the machine is operating.
