Sartorius and TEWS Elektronik Sign Agreement
Sartorius, has signed an agreement covering sales, marketing and servicing of microwave resonance analysers for the food and pharma industries with Hamburg-based measuring equipment supplier TEWS Elektronik. The range of applications for these instruments includes rapid and precise moisture content monitoring and the associated quality assurance and optimisation of raw, intermediate and end products, the company said.

LabVantage has announced the opening of its new office in Monza, Italy. Located northeast of the capital city of Milan, Monza is the third largest city in Lombardy, considered to be one of the most important economic regions of Italy.
"This new office not only serves as the strategic business development centre for the European market, but also enables LabVantage to provide comprehensive training and prompt client services to both our local and regional
customers in EMEA," affirms Paolo Concio, Director of European Sales. He added that a series of on-site training programs offering experience on SQL*LIMS and SAPPHIRE Laboratory Information Management Suite (LIMS) would also be available.

OctoPlus NV a drug delivery company has signed an agreement with a US biotechnology company relating to the use of OctoPlus' controlled release technology. Under the contract OctoPlus will develop a controlled release version of a product currently in clinical development using its proprietary drug delivery technology PolyActive®
. The client will reimburse OctoPlus
for its activities under the agreement. Further financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed. Simon Sturge, CEO of OctoPlus, said: "I am delighted to see the continued adoption of our PolyActive®

Contract Research Organisation Cyprotex which specialises in the preclinical ADME assessment of drug candidates has moved to acquire the issued share capital of Apredica LCL, a US-based CRO specialising in preclinical ADME and Toxicology assessment. Immediately preceding this move, Apredica had acquired the Intellectual Property and all other assets necessary for offering the Cellular Systems Biology (CSB™) and High Content Toxicology services previously offered by Cellumen, Inc.
The total consideration for the acquisition of Apredica is £2.68 million to be satisfied
through a combination of 44,730,297 new Cyprotex shares and £1 million in cash. The transaction was unanimously recommended by the Boards of both Cyprotex and Apredica, and does not require shareholder approval.
The combined organisation has operations in the world’s two largest centres of drug discovery, Europe and North America with little overlap in their customer bases, the company reports. Cyprotex’s entry into the in vitro toxicology market, will soon be further bolstered by the Company’s new toxicology laboratory in Macclesfield, due to open this October.
