ARTMOUTH CLASSICS WILL BE BACK IN PORT DURING JULY 5TH TO 8TH
AND THIS YEAR WILL
BE COMBINED WITH THE BIENNIAL CLASSIC CHANNEL REGATTA WHICH HAS BEEN STARTING IN DARTMOUTH SINCE ITS INCEPTION IN 2005. Despite all the Covid related hurdles, it is planned to go ahead with Dartmouth Classics more or less as normal, although we do need the government to remove or relax the ‘rule of 30’ for people gathering. The social side of the regatta is its beating
heart (while the racing provides the backbone) and we feel we can’t run the regatta if its heart is taken away. We have very reluctantly decided that
we cannot run the Classic Channel Regatta to Jersey and Paimpol after Dartmouth as planned this year. The easing of travel restrictions is clearly not going as well as we’d all hoped and it is already apparent they won’t be relaxed sufficiently by early July for the regatta to sail to France and The Channel Islands.
