Many of the dishes have a simple focus on serving the very best cut of meat or fish but accompanied with exquisite sauces and minimum trimmings. The dishes are varied


and the tapas influence is clear but actually the latter is dictated not just by Luca’s style but also by necessity. He and his two chefs work in a tiny kitchen (visible to customers) that is just big enough for the three of them. Creating the full, traditional menu just wasn’t going to be possible. Being creative and flexible is key and the diners love it. Luca’s passion shines through

to the energy, enthusiasm, collaboration and hard work of Luca, Julien and Guylaine, working closely together supported in turn by a great team around them. But running successful businesses is not just about hard work and team effort but also about quickly grasping opportunities as they present themselves. Julien and Guylaine have often talked about opening a French bakery elsewhere, modelled on the lessons they have learned at Saveurs. Of all places, they have the opportunity to do just that in Dubai!


Working alongside a partner based in Dubai, they will be spending part of the next few months training up local staff to get this new venture off the ground. At the same time, they have been looking at ways of simplifying the Saveurs operation where running the café has become arduous and time consuming for the both of them. The opportunity to set up around the corner in smaller premises meant they have been able to streamline everything – you can still order the usual French bread and pastries and light lunches and eat the delicious croque monsieur, quiches etc but the café is smaller, the dishes simpler but the options for takeaway remain. During the second lockdown, Andria started supplying a takeaway menu of burgers using buns freshly prepared by the Saveurs kitchen at the top of the town, and with the same passion and attention to detail that had already marked out Andria since opening. These were an immediate success – every burger made was sold out. But rather than turning the vacant Saveurs space on Victoria Road into another restaurant that might compete with Andria, the team quickly realised they had an opportunity to exploit the success of

ingredients, sauces and accompaniments. At its heart, Bunned is a reaction to popular demand. Sticking to the ethos behind Andria, it’s all about high quality ingredients, a passionate team and pumping tunes! Bunned is set to be Dartmouth’s most exciting new venture. It’s also kid and dog friendly! Burgers are priced around £15 (veg & vegan available too), but there’s also hot wings, pork ribs, frankfurters etc. Currently open; Tuesday – Saturday, 11am – 10pm. Staff recruitment permitting, in time it will be open 7 days/ week. Luca is driving the new venture with the same focus, attention and passion as before. There’s that ‘passion’ word again – as Luca says, “I pinch myself to be given this opportunity – I just love feeding people with great food!)
