The Fashion-Forward Doxie.
EARLIER THIS YEAR, BRENDA SIERRA posed for prom pictures with her rescued Dachshund and the story went viral on social media (with more than 15K re-tweets on Twitter and 54K likes on Facebook). Brenda is an 18- year-old high school senior who lives in Tampa with her sweet dog Sasha, adopted from the Humane Society of Tampa Bay two years ago. Sasha is now seven years of age and enjoys going everywhere with her human. For most high school seniors, prom is the social event
of the year and the perfect way to celebrate those four years of hard work. In Brenda’s case, prom wasn’t just about being with friends. It was also an opportunity to honor her beloved pooch. Even though Sasha was not allowed to actually attend prom, that didn’t stop Brenda from getting plenty of adorable photos of them together in matching dresses.
“I’m interested in fashion design so this was extremely fun for me to do. This was the first dress I ever made for Sasha. It took a few hours, but it looks like it paid off,” said Brenda, referring to the exposure she has received. She used extra fabric left over from her own dress to fashion the tiny replica. year-old building are lined with original art by local artists. Guests are encouraged to wander the hallways. Of course, the shop’s line of exquisite jewelry includes a canine-themed line, which earned Lily & Co. the “Top Dog Award” at the 2011 Smart Show in Chicago.
