Richardson Care in Northampton has created a unique video in a bid to recruit more care workers. The specialist residential care


firm supports people with learning disabilities or acquired brain injury and opened a new home in 2019, so more care workers are needed as the service expands. Managing partner Laura


Richardson-Cheater, said: “We know the demand for care workers is high and we want to show that working in care can be truly rewarding. We’re very proud of our team and are fortunate to have a relatively low turnover of staff. Not only do we offer a range of employment benefits, but we strive to create a happy working environment. We thought we would take the unusual approach of creating a video to encourage more people to join us.” The video shows care support


workers and managers talking about why they love working for Richardson Care, and the satisfaction they get from supporting the residents. For example, Tracey, an activity support worker says: “I’ve worked in care for over 20 years and this [home] is just perfect!” Other staff talk about the


support they are given by managers and team leaders and that they are empowered to provide the best care to meet each individual’s needs. They give plenty of examples of the variety of activities they take part in with the service users. Richardson Care is one of the


few remaining independently owned and run specialist care homes in the country. It was established in 1989 and now has six care homes in Northampton. It supports people from all over the UK as well as further afield.
