CHAMBER TRAINING


At the time of going to print, the decision had been taken to cancel all upcoming training and events as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic. The Chamber hosts a comprehensive suite of events and courses, which will be reinstated as soon as it is safe to do so; we are looking forward to welcoming our members back and announcing new dates in due course. Below is an overview of the wide range of offerings available to all members.


GETTING THE MESSAGE


RIGHT Developing Assertiveness Skills Be more effective, positive and competent in the workplace and outside it, by learning to be firm but fair with colleagues. Delegates will realise the benefits of assertive behaviour through saying no effectively, giving and receiving criticism and recognising and dealing with fear.


Written Communication at its Best! All managers and professionals need to communicate in writing and this workshop provides participants with an excellent opportunity to improve their skills, review their current approach and learn a range of useful tips and techniques.


MANAGEMENT & PERSONAL


DEVELOPMENT Project Management The workshop provides the skills to set up and control projects that meet the planned outcomes within agreed time scales and to budget. Other skills are the ability to make a compelling business case, select and build effective teams, manage change, understand the needs of the various stakeholders, carry out risk assessment and work within budgetary constraints.


Successful Supervisory Management How do you get the best out of your workforce? Do you know what motivates them to perform that little bit better? This course will introduce you to some tools and techniques that will help you to improve the performance of your team.

Managing Your Workload This workshop will give you the opportunity to think about your role and identify the tasks that really get results. It then gives tips and techniques on how to spend more time on these tasks, and less on the others – it also looks at the tools that are available to help get you organised, and how to get the best out of them.


How to hold Difficult Conversations Sometimes we put off having difficult conversations; we either ignore them of push them under the carpet. This course helps individuals to confront those difficult conversations that need to be had whether to improve performance, attendance or any important issues.


HEALTH & SAFETY FAA Level 1 Mental Health Awareness This half-day course is aimed at providing learners with the knowledge to identify suspected mental health conditions and the skills to start a conversation and be able to signpost the person towards professional help.

TECHNOLOGY Intermediate Excel The intermediate course takes you purely beyond understanding the basics of Excel to teaching some of the tools and techniques that will really add value to your systems.


THE BUSINESS TOOLKIT Absence Management A half-day workshop on understanding and minimising costly absence in the workplace. The content will provide enough background for organisations to formulate a sound absence policy which can be applied. Delegates will be given guidance on an effective zero tolerance policy and have the opportunity to practice effective back to work interviews.


Health and Safety for the Small Business To provide delegates with the knowledge and understanding of general Health and Safety legislation including specific legislation relating to their business. They will be provided with a toolkit of information to take away and apply to their own business. This is a general health and safety awareness course for owners, directors and managers for any small business who have specific responsibilities with regards to managing and coordinating health and safety. No prior knowledge or understanding is required.


Level 2 HABC Health & Safety in the Workplace Gain essential knowledge of health and safety for employees working in any type of business sector. The qualification covers the following topics: legislation, the workplace and workplace equipment, manual handling, hazardous substances, workstation design, transport and vehicles and noise and vibration.


GETTING THE MESSAGE RIGHT Minutes Made Easy This full-day course will help those that attend to understand what is


needed to produce clear and precise minutes. Topics covered include: types of meetings, speed writing and how to annotate different kinds of information.


Helping Difficult Customers By analysing behaviour and focusing on how to manage it, this workshop will help anyone who deals with difficult calls from customers. There will be role play opportunities – both face to face and on the telephone - to allow participants to practice their skills in a safe and controlled environment.
