Property Return of homebuilding show
Home owners will be able to find out how to give their houses a major spring spruce-up, thanks to experts from the annual National Homebuilding & Renovating Show at the NEC. The experts will be from the John Lewis
Home Design Service, who will help homeowners in devising a new look for their rooms or restyling a whole house, and provide them with a personalised shopping list of items needed for the makeover. The Midlands department stores are also
showcasing their latest colour swatches, fabrics and furniture, which they say are ‘designed to create a cohesive scheme for everything from flooring and curtains to the finishing touches’. The show – which takes place over four days
between 26-29 March – will also feature a host of other experts, including Sian Astley, project manager for BBC2’s ‘Your Home Made Perfect’ and an experienced interior designer and renovator, who will join the event for one-on- one consultations. She will also a host a seminar called ‘Building Secrets Explained: How to run your building project’, in which she shares the knowledge she has accumulated during the past 23 years. There will be plenty of advice on self-build
and renovation via the ‘Ask the Expert’ zone, which will offer 15-minute consultations with property experts Michael Holmes and Jason Orme, master builder Andy Stevens, building expert Bob Branscombe, eco-specialist David
Hilton, serial renovator Jo Dyson, and planning guru Sally Tagg. ‘Ask the Expert’ will be part of ‘The Advice
Centre’, where all kinds of impartial guidance will be available from industry specialists. Visitors keen to find out more about the
design, planning and construction process will be able to book an ‘Ask the Architect’ consultation with experts from RIBA (Royal Institute of British Architects) and there will be an ‘Ask the Builder’ area, manned by members
of the Federation of Master Builders, who will advise people on hiring accredited, highly skilled construction workers. In addition, there will be daily seminars and
masterclasses and more than 500 exhibitors at the show. For those who can’t get enough of awards ceremonies, the show will also feature ‘Homebuilding & Renovating’ magazine’s annual awards. This will take place on 27 March, and will recognise success stories within the property sector.
