Biggest Chamber event is set to return
The Chamber’s Spring Expo, which attracts more than 800 delegates and nearly 100 exhibitors, is to return. The Expo is due to take place on 12 March
2020 and will once again be held at Villa Park, the home of Aston Villa Football Club. Billed as one of the biggest Chamber events
of the year, the Expo will feature three seminars and speed networking events. Paul Faulkner, chief executive of GBCC, said:
“We are delighted to confirm that our hugely popular Spring Expo is returning in our 2020 events calendar. “Chamber Expos are a really fantastic way for
businesses to connect with lots of different organisations, and delegates from previous Expos have always rated the event highly. “We’re looking forward to welcoming even
more businesses to next year’s Expo, and I would urge all of those firms which wish to exhibit to get in quick and book their stand as these always sell out incredibly quickly.” Members and non-members of the GBCC can
exhibit and attend the Expo, with early bird offers on exhibition stands now available until Friday, 29 November.
Stands start from £250 (plus VAT) more

based boutique merchant bank Privus Capital Inc, is the guest speaker at an event hosted by the Greater Birmingham Transatlantic Chamber of Commerce. It takes place on Monday 17 February
(12.30pm to 2.30pm). The event will feature an introduction to
Canada’s economy, a brief analysis of the results of the national election that produced a Liberal Party minority government, Canada’s relationship with the United States and Canada’s experience of negotiating trade deals with the Americans. Canada’s experience in securing its free trade
and investment deal with the European Union, known as CETA (Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement) will also come under the spotlight. Speaking in Chamberlink magazine in
December, Mr Entwistle said Canada could provide Birmingham firms with the answer to their Brexit woes. He said the Commonwealth country could
help keep the door to preferential access to the European Union open via CETA and provide access to the all-important US marketplace, without the need for long-winded trade discussions. Mr Entwistle said: “As history has often shown, challenging circumstances can open new doors of opportunity, even ones that would have been previously unthinkable. One such door could involve Canada. “Canada could provide a unique hedge
against persistent Brexit-related risk for those Birmingham companies, both manufacturers and professional service providers, which are particularly vulnerable to or dependent on revenues from business in the European Union.”
