Celebrating the stars of awards night


An organisation which supports people who have been affected by rape, sexual assault and abuse, was crowned Asian Business Chamber of Commerce’s (ABCC) Business of the Year. Rape and Sexual Violence Project (RSVP),


based in Bennetts’s Hill in Birmingham, were named overall winners and Outstanding Charity of the Year, sponsored by Millennium Point, at the ABCC’s annual dinner and awards 2019 at the National Motorcycle Museum. Headline sponsors of the event included Douglas Wright T/A McDonald’s, HSBC and


Birmingham City University. Entertainment was sponsored by The FA Group.

Festival, which aims to empower and celebrate Asian women.


Chamber welcomes new team members


Asian Business Chamber of Commerce (ABCC) has made two new hires to expand its membership base. Mujtaba Hussain and Rebecca Black have


appointed by the Chamber as its new business development managers. Mujtaba has worked in a variety of roles based


in the West Midlands, including as a sales and shift manager at O2 and in other business development and research roles, before going on to study a business management degree at Warwick University in 2016. Speaking of his appointment, Mujtaba said:


“I’m really thrilled to be a part of the ABCC’s business development team. “The Chamber is going through some exciting


times, and is expanding rapidly due to more and more organisations looking to do more business with the enormous amount of Asian businesses in the region. “I’m looking forward to meeting these


businesses, and signing them up to this growing and influential Chamber.” Rebecca has had a lengthy career in the


motor industry spanning 15 years, working for major car manufacturers including Citroen, Volvo and Hyundai as a business specialist. Prior to her spell in the car industry, Rebecca worked for a national retailer selling white and brown goods. Rebecca said: “It is a real privilege to be part

of the evolving ABCC, which will further enhance my personal and professional development and profile in the region.” Anjum Khan, director of the ABCC, said:


“We’re really pleased to welcome Mujtaba and Rebecca to the Chamber team. “These confident and bright individuals will be


real assets in growing the Chamber’s core membership base, which is currently made of up Asian businesses and organisations which wish to do business with, or interact with these incredibly talented firms. The ABCC is always


looking for more ways in which we can assist businesses in achieving their goals, growing their networks and making a great impact in Greater Birmingham. Mujtaba and Rebecca’s main goals will be to seek out these businesses and demonstrate how the Chamber can to help them progress, grow and succeed. I’m really looking forward to working with them.”
