Tampa Bay Regional MEGA Adoption Event

Organized by Best Friends Animal Society, Hernando County Animal Services held a three day MEGA adoption event at the Hernando County Fairgrounds in May. Hillsborough County Pet Resource Center, Pasco County Animal Services, Polk County Animal Services, Citrus County Animal Services, and the Humane Society of the Nature Coast all participated, bringing 700 dogs and cats to the fairgrounds. “This event was incredible and exceeded all the
expectations of everyone who participated,” said Emily Park, Best Friends Animal Society. “We’ll be doing more of these in the future.” Some 400 dogs and cats were adopted during
the weekend’s event, including KadyBug (left) from Citrus County Animal Services.
Lakeland
There were more people than adoptable
pets during the SPCA Florida MEGA Adoption event. Several participating groups went back to their shelters to pull more dogs and cats. More than 1,000 people turned out for the event at RP Funding Center in June, adopting 294 dogs and cats, puppies and kittens.
