Sarasota, Florida resident Fifi O’Neill said that when she was editing the many stories from animal lovers for her book, Rescue Me, she noticed how many times the words love, soul, bond and heart appeared. “At first, I thought it might be

repetitious, but it became very clear that these are the words that

define a deep connection we have with our animals,” said Fifi. The stories and accompanying photographs feature

plenty of gorgeous dogs and cats, a few rabbits, a couple of roosters, a duck, a turtle, goats and a guinea pig. It’s the kind of book a reader can randomly open for a daily dose of happiness and inspiration. Fifi is the founding editor of lifestyle magazines such

as Romantic Country, French Country Style, Prairie Style, and Rustic Weddings. She self-published Rescue Me, intent on raising money for charity. Over the past year, Fifi has written checks to 245 charities nationwide totaling $25,000. “My hope is that this book will inspire more adop- tions and help promote animal welfare,” said Fifi.
