reality sound bites. Well Bred and Well Read. Photograph by Tina VaLant
Scared, emaciated and aban- doned in a shopping cart in Miami, Annie (left) struck gold, landing in the loving hands of Paw Patrol Animal Rescue & Sanctuary. Nursed back to health, fostered for months and then re-fostered or better, adopted, it appears that Annie was overbred and later used as a bait dog. She is wary around other dogs. Her second foster family knew within days, that Annie was home. A creampuff and couch potato, this rescued pibble girl is now loved, adored, fed the best food and treats, walked several times daily, surrounded in toys and beyond grateful for her new life. Here, she takes a break to enjoy her favorite magazine, the spring issue of The New Barker.

Want A Friend For Life? Adopt A Shelter Dog.
It seems like adopting a shelter pet is riding a wave among city and county officials around Florida. And that’s just pretty doggone cool political decorum, in our book.
Pinellas County – St. Pete Beach Fire Rescue adopted Tank from Pet Pal Animal Shelter. He has his own per- sonal trainer who comes to the fire station weekly to teach him basic obedience. After completing his K9 Good Citizen training, Tank may become a therapy dog for the Fire Rescue staff. He’s
making friends around town and even has his own email address if you’d like to send him a note:
tank@stpetebeach.org Pet Pal Animal Shelter, 405 22nd St. S., St. Petersburg. 727.328.7738
Lake County – Earlier this year, Lake County Fire Rescue Chief Jim Dickerson adopted a four-year-old Schnauzer from the Lake County Animal Shelter. Chief Dickerson named the dog, what else? Chief.
