ActionCoach welcomes Relationship Manager


Vicky Dawson, Festival Director


New director for Derby Book Festival


The popular Derby Book Festival, which celebrated its fifth event this summer, has announced the appointment of Vicky Dawson as its new Festival Director. She joined the team in


September on a part-time basis, while continuing in her current role at the Buxton International Festival, where she is Book Festival Director. Vicky has spent three decades in


the book trade and was latterly a partner in two independent bookshops in Scotland. She was a founder member of


Eastbourne’s Champion Women Festival, a Trustee of the Aboyne and Deeside Festival and has organised literary events for bookshops and festivals across the UK. Vicky said: “I am delighted to be


joining the team at Derby Book Festival. To be sharing my passion for books and contributing to two diverse festivals across Derbyshire is an enormous privilege.” The inaugural Derby Book


Festival took place in June 2015 and it has since become a firm fixture in the city’s cultural calendar.


Specialist business development and coaching consultancy ActionCoach Leicester & Nottingham has welcomed a new Relationship Manager to its team. Dev Popat joins founders Louise Jones and


Andrew McGunnigle in the business, which is also known as Team Brilliant. Louise and Andrew founded the business in 2018,


with the aim of working with clients to help them define and achieve their objectives and realise their full potential. They aim to bring a fresh perspective to the


organisations they work with, by combining a wealth of personal business experience with proven, world- class marketing and business development techniques to help unlock future growth. As well as working towards becoming a full-time member of the coaching team, Dev has been tasked with developing closer links with local businesses and charitable organisations which could benefit from the coaching and mentoring that Team Brilliant offers, to help them achieve their business goals. Before joining Andrew and Louise, Dev was


Business Relationship Manager at the Chamber, where he spent two years working with local businesses to help them raise their profile and access the range of services the Chamber has to offer. Prior to that, he held roles with Europcar, Centrica


and Workforce Recruitment. Dev said: “It’s fantastic to be working with Louise


and Andrew at Team Brilliant and being able to make such a positive difference to the clients we work with.


“My main role will be getting around the local


business community and building relationships with organisations where we can have an impact.”


Louise added: “We’re delighted to have Dev on


board. He is an asset to the business, who brings real energy, passion and drive to the role. “He has an extensive network of local business


contacts who we are looking to build relationships with. “What we’re trying to achieve with Team Brilliant


is to bring together a group of professionals who are experts in their own fields to build a collaborative team which has a real impact on the people, businesses and charitable organisations we work with. “We have exciting plans for the future and working with Dev will help us to bring them to fruition.”


Appointments strengthen college’s team


West Nottinghamshire College has bolstered its leadership team with the appointment of two new directors. Suzanna Smith and Jon Fearon


have joined the college as Director of Human Resources and Organisational Development, and Director of Finance, respectively. Suzanna has worked in HR


throughout her career and has more than 20 years’ experience across the private, public and charity sectors in senior roles. She will lead on recruiting,


retaining and developing a high- performing academic and professional workforce across the college, which has almost 700 staff, and play a key role in developing, implementing and embedding its strategic people-focused aims. Suzanna said: “The college is on


a journey of transformation and this includes embedding its new vision, mission and values with our employees and students, to build

our culture where professional excellence and personal growth is key to everything we do.” Jon has re-joined the college


after a 13-year absence, having worked as Finance Director from 1998-2002, and Deputy Principal/Executive Director of Business Strategy from 2002-2006. Jon said: “I am thrilled to re-join


the college at a time when the college is building its financial strength to ensure it continues to meet the needs of its local communities.” Welcoming the new


appointments, Principal and Chief Executive Andrew Cropley said: “I’m delighted that we have succeeded in bringing Suzanna and Jon onto our team. “Not only are they experienced, high-performing experts in their own fields, they are both entirely committed to achieving the college’s vision and living our values.”
