MEMBERNEWS Ilkeston gets more frequent Flyer

Bus passengers in Ilkeston are getting a more frequent Flyer service, thanks to trentbarton adding another bus to the fleet, improving its frequency to every 12 minutes. The £160,000 investment by

trentbarton in the extra bus and drivers in the service, which runs from Ilkeston and Cotmanhay to Derby, got into gear in September. In 2017, the Ilkeston Flyer’s

frequency was improved from every 20 minutes to every 15 minutes when the fleet was boosted from four to six buses. This new enhancement to the

service has created two new driver jobs, taking the driving team to 19. Like the rest of the fleet, the

extra bus will have superfast free WiFi and USB power, comfy seats and air conditioning for a premium passenger experience. trentbarton took its friendly

driving team and one of the buses to Ilkeston’s Market Place to launch the enhanced service and talk to local people about the improvements. Managing Director Jeff Counsell

said: “The Ilkeston Flyer is increasingly popular as a valued link for local people to get in and out of Derby.

“Every 12 minutes an Ilkeston

Flyer will depart and we hope local people make great use of this improved service.

“It’s so well-used that we can see

the need for another bus to join the fleet, so we can have even more services each hour.”

New division for Air IT is smart move

Managed IT and Communications provider Air IT has announced the formal launch of its specialist Business Intelligence division, Air BI. Initially started in 2018, the division was introduced

to develop internal processes, drive performance and strengthen Air IT’s position as a technology leader. The firm, a Chamber strategic partner, now wishes

to help others make the same gains, through its offering of business intelligence packages and consultancy services. With a dedicated team of experts based at the company’s headquarters in

Sandiacre, Air BI helps organisations transform data and drive better decisions. By integrating with key business systems, the team enables organisations to create one view of operations and present it in a clear and actionable way. Darren Turner, Head of Business Intelligence at Air

BI, said: “Business Intelligence is key for any organisation looking to transform digitally and make advances in an increasingly competitive environment. “Any business can benefit and make great improvements when data is used effectively.”

Nottingham-based WiFi and networking specialist Performance Networks is undergoing a recruitment drive to increase the size of its team by 25%. New positions on offer include

technical support roles, an account manager and a pre-sales engineer. New positions have been created

following another successful year of growth for the business, which was established by directors Will Evans and David Ballard in 2012. Will said: “After experiencing

such a tremendous 2018, we’re thrilled that we are now in a strong position to be able to start our recruitment drive. “We see this as our catalyst for

continuous growth over the next 12 months and we’re looking forward to welcoming new members to our expanding team.”
