THE FIRST WORD

Welcome to the October edition of Business Network – a milestone edition of sorts as it is the first to hit 100 pages, which is testament to the volume of great content we receive from our members and of course those which see the value of placing adverts in the publication. Property and Construction encompasses a wide range of services and is never far

away from the headlines in various forms and this is the theme for this edition of Business Network. The properties we make and the communities we subsequently create touch

everyone – transcending business and affecting many aspects of our lives. It’s a sector that is clearly rooted in the fabric of our society, but one that – as with most sectors – is adapting to changing times. The focus of October’s Big Interview is Lindsey Williams, Group Chief Executive at Chamber strategic partner Futures Housing Group. Lindsey offers a fascinating insight into the sector as well as her own experiences, including a message from her father which still resonates with her to this day. There’s also comprehensive coverage of the recent Chamber Business Awards, including all the winners, which took place across all three counties last month – three fantastic evenings of celebration and recognition. Also included in this edition is news of the Chamber’s free Business Readiness for Change programme of seminars and workshops, aimed at arming businesses with the knowledge, understanding and tools to negotiate a period of change as we approach the date for the UK’s departure from the European Union on 31 October. Business Network is a dedicated publication for you, our members. If you have a

story, or an idea, that you believe would be suitable for inclusion in Business Network, please email magazine@emc-dnl.co.uk or call me on 0333 320 0333 ext 2089.

Best wishes, Nathan Fearn Editor, Business Network
