Chagford is a must for lovers of food and drink, with some top-class restaurants, a range of inns, pubs and a choice of hotels, guesthouses and farm stays to suit every budget.
The Globe Inn has an interesting decor and the renowned Gidleigh Park Hotel is just outside of the town.
Surrounding the town is a glorious wilderness with granite tors, sparkling rivers, and wildlife, including the iconic Dartmoor pony. There are some spectacular guided walks plus bridleways and cycling tracks.
Nearby is the wonderful Stone Lane Sculpture Garden. To avoid the challenging parking problems the Sandy Park Inn is just a few miles away.
Moretonhampstead has many seasonal attractions, which include Moreton Music Day and Moretonhampstead Carnival.
There is also a Motor Museum, Miniature Pony Centre, and the award winning Green Hill Arts and Heritage Gallery.
There are local shops, cafes, places to stay and several excellent food pubs. The White Hart offers rooms and food. Whatever the time of year there is something going on in this small Dartmoor town.

The family-run CHOLWELL RIDING STABLES has been providing escorted rides and riding lessons on Dartmoor for nearly forty years. Nearby is the Neolithic burial chamber known as Spinsters Rock and the Iron Age hill fort of Prestonbury Castle.
To see Dartmoor at its best, Fingle Bridge is a must. At this amazing place there are a multitude of interesting walks, with amazing views from Hunter’s Path which go to CASTLE DROGO is reminiscent of a medieval fortress.
The castle was designed and built between 1910 and 1930 by renowned architect Sir Edwin Lutyens. You can stroll through the Lutyens designed formal garden, or take a longer walk in the Teign Gorge and then refuel with tea and cake in the café, and the famous Two Moors Way is within walking distance.
The ancient Fingle Mill, Cranbrook Castle and the village of Drewsteignton.
