BODMIN is central in Cornwall and thirty minutes from the Cornish beaches.


In the town centre St Petrocs Church is the largest Parish Church in Cornwall.


There is a prominent monument erected in honour of its famous son General Walter Raleigh Gilbert, and William Hamley of the famous toy shop was born in Bodmin, to find out more please go to the Town Museum.


Around the town there are several statues & plaques commemorating famous sons & daughters.


For the cycling and walking enthusiasts Bodmin will be your heaven with the Camel Trail starting in the town.


For the outdoor lovers Bodmin Moor has Helman Tor and its magnificent views or even the Bodmin Beacon Nature Reserve, the area is abundant with wildlife, fresh air and peace.


Places to visit include the Cornwall’s Regimental Museum which has exhibits of military artifacts, Shire Hall which was the County Courts and is where the award winning Courtroom Experience is enacted, inviting you to act as a member of the jury in a Victorian murder trial, full of conspiracy and intrigue.


The Town Museum is fascinating, and at the old Bodmin Jail you can imagine how prison life was in yesteryear,


there is also a restaurant.


Bodmin is a great town for a DAY OUT because once you have parked your car in one of the town's central car parks there are six places to visit within walking distance of each other, and the local cafes and pubs.


The town is close to The Eden Project and nearby are the National Trust houses of Pencarrow and Lanhydrock both have extensive gardens and should be on any visitor’s agenda for Cornwall.


At the general railway station BODMIN & WENFORD RAILWAY offers a thirteen mile round trip to EXPLORE the views as you travel through the countryside.
