Retford MD named Young Director of the Year


Sam Kirk, Managing Director of Retford-based J-Flex was named Young Director of the Year at the IoD East Midlands Director of the Year Awards. Over 150 guests attended the


event where 46 of the region’s most successful, established and emerging directors and business leaders were finalists in the awards. He said: “I am incredibly humbled and honoured to pick up this accolade. My thanks to our dedicated, talented and hard-working team, and thanks also to our shareholders who continue to invest and put their trust in us.”


Ward chooses Work Wallet for audit platform


Ward Recycling, the Derbyshire- based recycling company, is the latest company to adopt Chamber patron Work Wallet’s app platform. Work Wallet helps record and document safety issues that arise, streamlining traditional paper processes. Michael Ward said: “We


always look to other local businesses to support our operations so we are very pleased to be working with Work Wallet. The system is extremely useful and easy to use. It has improved our health and safety, our staff are really enjoying using it.” Jonathan Gray, CEO of Work


Wallet, added: “Our platform will help Ward to reduce the paper chase and improve recording health and safety information at its sites.”


Moralitas helps client to innovate


Grant funding and public sector bid writers Moralitas has helped Beaconsoft Limited access Innovate UK funding of £150,000 to help bring its ground-breaking innovation to market. On first submission, Beacon


received outstanding feedback, but fell just short of being approved for funding. Moralitas improved and resubmitted the application and was successful, with Beacon ultimately awarded three times the grant initially sought. Jacob Wells, Managing Director


at Moralitas, said: “Beacon’s concept of eliminating ad-fraud is one with clear and tangible benefits. Our job is to really get to know the concept from all angles and build a compelling storyline which justifies public funding to help make the idea a commercial reality.”

The recent sold out run of cinema icon Sir Ian McKellen’s one-man show, at Nottingham Playhouse, has raised more than £50,000 for schemes that make theatre more accessible. The money collected during


performances will go towards initiatives that open up the theatre to people and communities across Nottingham and Nottinghamshire. The cash was raised during two sold-out performances at the Nottingham Playhouse over the summer, from ticket and brochure sales, and public donations. It will be split equally between the theatre’s SHINE and 50:50 appeals. SHINE aims to create and sustain


free theatre-making opportunities and provide bursaries for young people across Nottingham and Nottinghamshire.

opened the new Playhouse building in 1963, in Sir Tyrone Guthrie’s

play Arthur Seaton in Saturday Night and Sunday Morning, by acclaimed Nottingham playwright, Alan Sillitoe. He will now have a seat


dedicated to him in the Playhouse’s main auditorium. Stephanie Sirr, chief executive of


Nottingham Playhouse, said: “Not only have we enjoyed unforgettable evenings of great theatre but Ian McKellen has enabled hundreds of people across Nottingham to
