THE FIRST WORD

Welcome to the September edition of Business Network. There have been few signs of a summer downtime for Chamber members as far as submissions to the magazine have been concerned. As such, the September magazine is, as ever, full of member activity including award

and contract wins, expansions, collaborations, appointments and much more, including specialist features from across a wide spectrum of issues in the Business Support section. The theme of this edition is Diversity and Inclusion, an area of paramount importance

not just to the business community but to society in general. In September’s edition, Business Network spoke with Victoria Critchley, Partner at

award-winning Cooper Parry, a fast-growing and multifaceted accountancy business which was named earlier this year as the best company to work for in Europe. At the heart of this success is a commitment to a diverse, inclusive staff culture and

Victoria talks about how such a long-standing commitment to this area has helped elevate the company to become a ‘north star’ and how the company’s culture is delivering tangible results. This edition’s focus feature, entitled Dancing with Diversity, takes this argument even

further – suggesting why creating a working culture that’s accepting of everyone isn’t just absolutely the right thing to do, it also fundamentally makes good business sense. And as politicians return to Westminster following the summer recess, the Chamber’s

Director of Policy, Chris Hobson, looks at the challenges that face MPs in the weeks and months to come – not least with the 31 October date for the UK’s departure from the EU now firmly on the horizon. Business Network is a dedicated publication for you, our members. If you have a story,

or an idea, that you believe would be suitable for inclusion in Business Network, please email magazine@emc-dnl.co.uk or call me on 0333 320 0333 ext 2089.

Best wishes, Nathan Fearn Editor, Business Network
