Entrepreneur goes back to school for TV documentary


One of Britain's most dynamic emerging entrepreneurs has appeared in a new four-part series on Channel 4. Called The Secret Teacher, the


series featured the stories of four successful business owners, all of whom struggled at school, as they went undercover at Haileybury Turnford School, in Herts, to give failing students a helping hand. Paul Rowlett, founder and CEO


of Chamber member Everything Branded, based in Leicester, featured in the first episode of the series. Ex-serviceman Paul, who just


nine years ago faced homelessness following the repossession of his home, posed as a support teacher. With the exception of three members of staff, none of the students or staff had any idea that Paul is one of Britain's most trailblazing tycoons. Paul immersed himself fully in


the challenge as a school support worker, tackling the nerves that come with stepping into a classroom, while identifying which


of the students he wanted to help before revealing his true identity in the life-changing finale. The series put a spotlight on the


increasing challenges faced by the education system. Paul said: “My school days


weren't happy ones. I came from a broken home and I wasn't academic. I was destined to fail. I left at 16 with only one GCSE. “However, returning to school


has been a positive experience for me. It was fantastic getting to know the kids, but heart-breaking hearing about their problems both in and out of school. “It is clear that things have never


been tougher in our schools. I am full of admiration for Haileybury Turnford School. In spite of the enormous challenges they face day after day, the staff there are totally committed to the kids. “Above all else, I am glad that I


have been able to make a difference by providing much needed financial help to the school and those pupils who really stood out for me.”

Really sweet deal for University graduates


Packaged sweets and gifts supplier TTK Confectionery is taking part in Nottingham Trent University’s Grads 4 Nottingham scheme for the third year running. The scheme focuses on graduate


retention by providing two-week work placement projects in some of Nottingham’s most exciting businesses. Nottingham has a thriving


student population, but research shows that only a small proportion of NTU graduates go on to live and work in the city. As part of its involvement, seven


students will work on two projects set by TTK’s creative team. This will be the third time that the company has taken part in the scheme with this year’s projects centring on product design and development, as well as new product photography techniques and styles. As progressive leaders in the


world of flavour, print and packaging, TTK is always looking to expand its creative team.

The company has strong


connections with the university, the current team includes three NTU graduates all of who came into the business through placement


programmes. TTK’s Head of Product Development, Katie Gilbert said “I am absolutely thrilled to have this injection of innovation into our business.”
