Leicestershire accountants appoint Partner

Christian and Sarah have joined the DBCP team

DBCP expands team of building surveyors

Derby’s building boom has promoted Derbyshire Building Control Partnership (DBCP) to further strengthen its team of building control surveyors. Experienced building control surveyor Sarah Pearce and trainee building

control surveyor Christian Ellis have joined its team. Sarah and Christian will be covering the Derby and South Derbyshire

areas, working with builders, architects and property owners. Christian’s appointment addresses the construction industry’s concerns

around a shortage of building control surveyors which could threaten the current growth rate of the UK construction sector. He is one of two graduate trainees and a building control apprentice

employed by DBCP as it seeks to invest in its workforce at all levels. Christian, from Wirksworth, Derbyshire, recently completed a Biology

degree at the University of Lincoln. He joins the company as a trainee, where he will combine work and study over the next two years towards a Level 4 Diploma in HNC Construction and the Built Environment. Sarah, from Fleckney, in Leicestershire, has more than 15 years’

experience in building control and joins from Oadby and Wigston Council. Welcoming Sarah and Christian to DBCP, Managing Director Neil Johnson

said: “Innovations in building technology and a government pledge to build a million new homes by 2020 all add to the future demands for building control expertise. “This is why we have focused on recruitment in recent months to add to

the resources, skills and experience of the team. We offer a strong service throughout Derbyshire that is matched to the current construction boom.” DBCP is the recommended building control service provider in

Derbyshire, responsible for ensuring all new construction, conversions, alterations and extensions are built to a minimum standard and meet certain health, safety and welfare standards.

Recruiter announces Director promotion

Chamber Patron SF Recruitment, a leading specialist recruiter in the Midlands, has further strengthened its Nottingham team with the promotion of one of its longest serving consultants, to Operations Director. Jo Eaton has been with the Millennium Way-based company, in Nottingham, for the past 14 years and was recently promoted to the role which sees her manage a team of 12 consultants, including two divisional managers, and assisting in achieving an average 40% year- on-year profit growth for the past six years. Her promotion has taken place alongside that of Mike

Lattimer, who has also been announced as Operations Director for SF Recruitment’s Birmingham office. The company, which has

Dragon’s Den star James Caan as an investor, and CEO Saria Demmer at the helm, has grown rapidly since it began just over 20 years ago. Jo has helped the Nottingham

office double in size over the past three years to a team of 25. The company has offices in Birmingham, Leicester and Nottingham, and employs 120 members of staff throughout the Midlands.

Leicestershire chartered accountants Newby Castleman has announced the appointment of Joanne Chilton as a Partner at its Leicester office. Joanne was promoted from

her previous position of Senior Manager at the firm’s office on Regent Road in June. Her latest promotion takes the

number of partners at the firm to ten, eight at its Leicester head office and two at its second branch on Forest Road, Loughborough. Having qualified as a Chartered

Accountant with the ICAEW in 1994, Joanne gained Fellowship of the Institute in 2007. She joined Newby Castleman

19 years ago following the firm’s acquisition of Jervis Taylor & Partners in 2000. The longevity of a proportion

of Joanne’s client relationships reflects Newby Castleman’s emphasis on delivering a personal service and forward- thinking advice to its clients. Joanne has worked with UKD,

one of the largest footwear distributors in the UK, for the

past 30 years. Since joining Newby Castleman, she has managed UKD’s accounts, providing ongoing audit and tax compliance services as well as occasional bespoke, specialist advice. Chris Brown, IT & Operations

Director at UKD, said: “Joanne has always been a pleasure to work with over the many years I’ve known her. She is professional and personal all at once, which is what we at UKD look for in an accountant: expert information and honest advice. Joanne represents Newby Castleman extremely well – her promotion couldn’t be better deserved.” Chris Castleman, Managing

Partner at Newby Castleman, said: “We are delighted to announce the appointment of Joanne as our new partner. Her promotion is the culmination of her hard work and personalised advice over the years, as well as the determination and commitment she has shown to strengthening the firm’s presence in Leicester.”
