Matthew Hutchings showcases Derby Conference Centre’s new brand

A tale of two cities with rebrands for events and conference venues

Major conference venues at both ends of the A52 have undergone rebranding exercises over the summer. Leading academic events and

conference venue Nottingham Conference Centre has launched itself as the newly-rebranded NTU Events and Conferencing. The move was part of a long-

term plan to strengthen its position and be better aligned with Nottingham Trent University (NTU), offering first-class events and conference facilities across its Nottingham City, Clifton Science and Technology, and Brackenhurst campuses. The popular Derby Conference

Centre, meanwhile, has also undergone a complete rebrand, incorporating a new website and logo, focusing on the initials DCC. While the venue will maintain its

existing name, its owners have made a conscious decision to make its logo more generic, moving the emphasis away from the term ‘conference centre’.

A DIVERSE PORTFOLIO OF INNOVATIVE SPACES NTU launched Nottingham Conference Centre back in 2010 to offer events and conference space at its city centre campus. It quickly became a premier conference centre for the East

A HISTORIC LOCATION Derby Conference Centre is a stunning Grade II-listed building in a central location in Derby. Historically recognised as being mainly a conference centre, the venue’s rebrand now brings to the fore all the other services it has to offer. The rebrand comes 12 years after

a successful relaunch in 2007, with the aim of creating a venue that will appeal to a wider audience. Its striking new logo is simple,

Midlands region. Since then, NTU has invested significantly in the development of its facilities across all campuses. NTU Events and Conferencing

will have an extensive and diverse portfolio of spaces in Nottinghamshire to offer clients. These include specialised laboratories, a bespoke veterinary centre, a self-contained building for conferencing and events and exceptional sporting facilities. Katie Hernandez, NTU’s

Conference Operations Manager, said: “This has been an exciting time for the commercial team to strategically position ourselves within the university and to embrace the diversity of our campus facilities to suit our commercial clients.

“Nottingham Conference Centre

has won many awards over the years including M&IT Bronze Best Academic Venue and more recently the Best Exhibition Space at the CN Academic Venue Awards. With space across our combined campuses, and access to our specialist facilities, our business will continue to grow and support Nottingham Trent University.” NTU Chief Operating Officer

Steve Denton added: “We have a wide variety of impressive buildings and modern facilities across all of our campuses. NTU Events and Conferencing becoming more closely aligned to the university means that these outstanding spaces can be opened up as part of a diverse portfolio of event venues.”

but effective, which incorporates a palette of six modern colours, representing its six core services of hotels, meetings, events, weddings, offices and conferences. Matthew Hutchings, the venue’s Managing Director, said: “I am delighted with the result of this rebrand and the new website. We wanted something that would bring an equal emphasis to all of our services, was modern and future- proof. We feel our new brand does all of these things and we couldn’t be happier. “The rebrand is just the start,

throughout 2019 we are upgrading our facilities, to include a new restaurant, new meeting rooms and new décor and furniture. We have an amazing team, that really understand the vision and commitment we are bringing to Derby. We are one venue but so much more than just a conference centre.”
