Dream team supports football club

Wildgoose Construction is investing time and expertise to help Sleetmoor United Football Club apply for a grant of more than £1m from the Football Foundation. If successful, the grant will

support the build of a £750k floodlit 4G football pitch as well as brand new changing facilities, a community hall and other spaces that can be used commercially. This should enable financial

stability over the longer term by generating sustainable income, removing the reliance on player subscriptions, charity events, negotiating kit sponsorship and attracting donations.

Founded in 2016, Sleetmoor

United brings together three teams - ADASC FC, GFC Alfreton Girls and Ladies and Leabrooks Juniors FC - to form a single club with a united vision. In 2018, Sleetmoor founder Matt

Wheatcroft, who is also Managing Director of Chamber strategic partner Purpose Media, became involved with the club when his daughters started to play football and he started coaching a team. Matt quickly realised that

Sleetmoor had a massive shortage of facilities and a lack of grounds maintenance equipment. Drawing on his experience in business, he was

Law firm awarded IIP gold standard

East Midlands’ law firm Flint Bishop has been awarded the prestigious national Investors in People (IIP) Gold accreditation until 2022. The firm, which has offices in Derby and Ashbourne and plans to open a Birmingham office in the coming months, received the award following a rigorous assessment process and detailed positive feedback from employees. Since its last assessment in 2016, the firm has improved its IIP rating from bronze to gold, a standard which remains challenging and aspirational for many organisations. The announcement follows a sustained period of growth and the most

successful financial year to date for the law firm. Holly Dixon, HR Manager at Flint Bishop, said: “It is fantastic to see our

Investors in People rating grow from bronze to gold in just three years and is testament to the firm’s ongoing commitment to developing and taking care of our people. Success and teamwork are at the heart of what we do and so we will use the knowledge gained from the IIP assessment to

recognised by Investors in People and handed the gold award. It is pleasing to see that values, actions and behaviours demonstrated by the management team are reflected by the staff to deliver an excellent service to our clients.”

able to offer his expertise of preparing business plans and applying for grant funding from the Football Foundation to help the club. To aid the application, Sleetmoor

requires feasibility plans, detailed construction drawings, and reports outlining the environmental, safety, health and community impact of the development. Alfreton-based Wildgoose

Construction was happy to help. Having listened to Sleetmoor’s

aspirations, Wildgoose offered its expertise to provide construction and environmental impact reports, as part of its corporate social responsibility strategy.

Executive Chairman Jonathan

Wildgoose said: “Wildgoose is totally committed to helping the local community. Working alongside such an enthusiastic group of parents on a project that will benefit many people for many future generations is very much part of our company ethos and values.” Matt Wheatcroft added: “I hear

many businesses talk about the importance of CSR, but rarely do I actually see the words turn into actions. Wildgoose will enable Sleetmoor to submit a compelling grant funding application which we hope will enhance our chances of being awarded the grant.”
