Broadstone Family Fun Day
Sunday 7th July sees the Broadstone Fun Day return for the eighth consecutive year and we are keeping our fi ngers crossed for fi ne weather – certainly June wasn’t overly kind to those of us who crave sunshine!
We have a packed arena programme with some favourites from previous years and several brand new acts to enjoy throughout the day, alongside many stalls from local business, community groups and charities, so please be generous in supporting all of them on the day. Huge thanks to Tapper Funeral Services, which has sponsored the Arena this year, this sponsorship will help us to fi nd the technical costs of bringing the music to you on the PA system.

There has been a lot of interest in our Car Show, which is being sponsored this year by PRC Streamline and we hope they will be able to bring their executive and wedding cars for us to view. I am sure their representative will have a diffi cult time in choosing the Car of the Day.

The event simply would not be possible without all our sponsors, but it is crucial that we pay a special tribute to our headline sponsor Symes Wealth Management. They have shown a commitment to this event for several years and I am personally looking forward to them opening the event just after midday on Sunday 7th July before we welcome our fi rst act to the arena.

The Broadstone Fun Day is run entirely by volunteers, so when you come along, please take a moment to thank the marshalls keeping you safe, or parking your car, also to those running the donkey derby, raffl e, lost children and infl atables. I have been event organiser for this event from its origins in 2012 and with my new role in the Council it is time to hand over the reins to someone with some new ideas. To keep the event alive for 2020 and beyond, I am therefore calling for new committee members and a new chair to come forward. It’s an incredibly rewarding event to plan and I would love to have a coffee with anyone who thinks they could step up and take this on.
In the meantime, we hope to see everyone on 7th July, we would encourage those who can to walk or cycle down to the Recreation Ground, with their pockets full of money to spend and their picnic blanket. Otherwise, we do have parking onsite for just £1 thanks to the 149 Squadron Air Cadets.
